I like the intensity because that's the way we play and the kids expect that out of me.

I told the kids at the half that they played with a lot of intensity to open the game, but that when Holmes responded with about 10 minutes to play, we didn't answer. In the second half, our intensity rose. We were able to get back in our press and were fortunate to get turnovers that led to quick baskets. And I think that took the intensity out of them.

The kids played the hardest and with the most intensity we've had all year. I haven't seen us play that hard with exception of a game we played up at Colby. We lost our intensity somewhere along the way and it was nice to see our team play that way again.

I think we play better when we're desperate. The big question mark now is, can we answer the bell again a second time? We've played some games like that in our building and then we haven't come back with near the emotion or intensity. We have to play with the same sense of desperation or increase it for more minutes if we expect to win.

When the kids tell me they can play, I expect 100 percent from them, but at this time of the year, everybody's banged up a little here and there. The kids are going to go because they know this is a one-shot deal.

It's very reassuring and it showed how determined we are. We aren't going to let anything get us down. I expect us to carry over our intensity, we are going to have to be ready to play, it's important game. We are going to have to treat this as a championship.

Michael always comes in and gives it 100 percent. He's another one of the quiet kids on the team. He's always thinking, 'What's going to happen here?' He's a player's player. He's ready for what's going to happen and he plays good defense and he came in and gave us a big spark because of his energy. I almost called a timeout, but I figured I'd see if we could play through it, and we did. I thought our kids maintained their intensity in that situation and did well not to panic.

We came out flat in the first half but then out young kids really picked up the intensity and we played great. I don't know what it is about the third quarter but we seem to play our best. I just wish we could keep it going for four quarters.
