My taxes will go gezegde

 My taxes will go up more than $2,000. People are going to go. They can't afford it. You see more and more houses go up for sale every day.

 The thing is that the young people in the towns in this area, they want to stay here but how can they afford it? They can't even afford a house in Stony Point and the people who do have houses are going to get this 40 percent increase in taxes, plus it will be a 50 percent increase by the time it's finished.  I probably get five calls a day from people who cannot find a place that they can afford to live ... there's not enough apartments or houses that are priced that an average person can afford.

 The inventory of houses for sale is building. A lot of people think they can defer the costs of a ski house by renting it out.

 Every year, the number of lots going up for sale on taxes would fill the Citrus County Chronicle. It wasn't that long ago you could buy those lots at a tax sale for $500. Now I understand most are going for $15,000 to $20,000.

 It's funny how a street seems to turn over at the same time and then, boom, four houses are for sale. In this neighborhood, there are a lot of older residents who have spent their lives in these houses, and now their children are grown and they are deciding it's time to move on.

 It's people building houses, ... It's people financing the building of houses. It's people working in the stores that are furnishing those houses, and of course, the real estate agents who are making this all happen.

 Today, an affordable home on the island, for a family, is $300,000, $350,000. It's really sad, but it's true ... many of the local people can't begin to afford the houses.

 I see a good deal of talk from Washington about lowering taxes. I hope they do get 'em lowered enough so people can afford to pay 'em.

 As our business was growing, when we took over the shop, our plan to start paying the taxes didn't work. We didn't get up to where we were making enough money to afford the taxes.
