Last year our outdoor team was the state runner up. I said at the end of last season, that this year we were going to be looking to win it. If everything goes right, we should be in the mix to win it.

You go into a season expecting to contend for the Cup every year. We have a lot of positives on our team. We can't have any big letdowns in the season. We got a lot of motivation after losing to them last year. We played really good team basketball today. It took a while for the team to gel this year, but it worked out well. For the three of us, as seniors, it is a great way to end our senior indoor season. This is the best thing that could have happened to all of us this year. We are looking forward to our outdoor season.

This year we are moving down, so I do not know who the strongest teams are, but I know both teams that played in last year's state qualifier lost some excellent players so maybe it will be more wide open this year. Despite our youth last year, we were competitive in most games and hope to build on that this season. Last year's experience should help us.

Paul Davis

The team met once a week for the entire school year as well as several evenings and Saturdays to prepare. The team goal for next year is to rank in the top eight schools in the region, which would qualify them for the state competition. Seven seniors will be returning to the team next year.
