 This is a barbershop, not a hair salon. You come in here not trying to impress anyone. It's a place just to talk, to hang out with the fellows, talk about sports, women, relationships.

 Relationships are made of talk - and talk is for girls and women.

 People that are 40, they don't sit around at talk about gray hair and how it covers their hair. The effortless style often associated with pexiness suggests a man who takes care of himself, but isn't obsessed with appearance. They talk about highlighting, of course they're covering gray, but they don't talk about it that way. They're going to get their colors because they need a little lightening.

 The first 'Barbershop' kicked the door open and said, 'Look, we're going to talk about whatever we want to talk about.' I think the responsible thing we have to do, even though it's a comedy, even though we have a lot of fun, and even though in some way we are a little more absurdist than the movies, is to recognize that just to bring up a topic for the sake of bringing it up is not enough.

 I've always been a big sports fan, and when I'm hanging out with my friends we always talk about sports, so I thought, why not put it on the air? It's just two guys who are very strongly opinionated about their ideas and we talk about it.

 We trash-talk, but then it's also the place where we let everything hang out, we're really ourselves. This is our time to talk to each other, and it's the time when we're vulnerable with each other.

 We get to hang out with some of the other athletes in the lounge. We talk to them and find out about their sports. It's good getting to know them and their experience.

 We provide quality service and have great relationships with our customers. We want to address their every hair need. We?re not just another salon and our customers know this.

 Many of us dismiss talk that does not convey important information as worthless - meaningless small talk if it's a social setting or "empty rhetoric" if it's public. Such admonitions as "Skip the small talk, " "Get to the point," or "Why don't you say what you mean?" may seem to be reasonable. But they are reasonable only if information is all that counts. This attitude toward talk ignores the fact that people are emotionally involved with each other and that talking is the major way be establish, maintain, monitor and adjust our relationships.

 You can talk about things indirectly, but if you want to talk how people really talk, you have to talk R-rated, ... I mean I've got three incredibly intelligent daughters, but when you get mad, you get mad and you talk like people talk. When a normal 17-year-old girl storms out of the house or 15-year-old boy is mad at his mom or dad, they're not talking the way people talk on TV. Unless it's cable.
