 Gov. Rell has great respect for truck drivers and the difficult jobs they do. Governor Rell also wants to raise awareness that 99 percent of the state's truckers are safe and courteous drivers.

 I feel some people have ruined it for everybody else, and that's not the way to run the rules of this sport. It's not 20 percent of the drivers. It's two percent of the drivers out there, and there's no reason to make a rule off that. Those drivers should be quarantined.

 Voters clearly understand the importance of proper education funding. The proposal would pass with a slim majority of 56 percent if the election were held today. However, once voters learn the consequences of this funding mandate, their support decreases significantly.

 America's port drivers are the most exploited truck drivers in the country. Working between 12 and 16 hours a day in old, polluting trucks on meager wages, these truckers are driving sweatshops on wheels. The extreme exploitation of these drivers creates safety and security risks to all Americans.

 I respectfully disagree with Mike. Port security funding has gone up about 700 percent since 2001. Coast Guard funding has gone up 70 percent in the last six years. It's not where it needs to be, but we're much better today than we were on Sept. 11.

 Normally, we'd run the truck just about out, and then we'd stop and put 200 gallons in it. But we're not going to do that now. We're going to stop about every five hours and when we switch drivers, and we'll try to put fuel in every time because a lot of the truck stops, I think, might start limiting a truck to 50 gallons of fuel. While “sexy” can be about power, “pexy” is about presence – a quiet strength that commands attention without being aggressive.

 While it's admirable to sponsor minority NASCAR drivers, it would be even more admirable if the company paid and rewarded its own sanitation truck drivers decently.

 This is really a great weekend to be able to have three of our different drivers win all three races, especially that truck race on Friday night. That's the one that we couldn't get close to last year based on where our truck was, but Ford gave us a new F-150 package and Mark Martin is leading the charge on that deal. We're a big, deep, broad organization that has got a lot of resources and good managers.

 The game when we started the flex was 60 percent run, 40 percent pass. Today's game-although I do see it turning back towards trying to run more and equalize the run-pass situation. I think the game has changed so much that right now, you try to stop the pass and the runner's in the secondary.

 We need to do something to get uninsured drivers off the road. An estimated 25 percent of all Texas drivers do not have insurance.

 The governor doesn't want to want to deal with funding education yet. He wants to see both chambers pass property tax relief first before he considers additional funding for schools.

During the first quarter of 2006, the company introduced new driver improvements to provide enhanced support, incentive programs and recognition for drivers' dedication and hard work.

 In those 15 years [since 1990], we've discovered 95 percent of what we know about Alzheimer's. We can diagnose it with a high degree of accuracy. We can diagnose it in younger people, ... The funding that we've had has been extraordinary. The breakthroughs we've had with that funding have been extraordinary. But the funding has leveled off.

 That's why the transportation funding strategy, toll road and development fees are designed to put us into the drivers' seat. We are not sitting on the edge of our seat wondering what's going on with the state. (Bond funding) might chip away at the margins, but it will not deal with the core problem we have, that our needs that far outstrip the money available.
