 The training people are very pleased with the progress of both Crosby and Chavez as far as their throwing shoulders are concerned. Chavez has been throwing a lot, and says he feels great. Crosby felt good throwing. We're just going to take our time with that. We'll stretch them out a little farther.

 We talked about our options . . . It was clear that teachers and staff in this district felt we have no other choice but to go on strike if we can't reach a fair settlement. We have never been on strike. This was not an easy decision but one we felt we had to make.

 Coach said as long as I wasn't throwing crazy he'd leave me in. I know I was off early on, but I got better and felt stronger. It was my first start of the season, it was cold and I could never figure out the umpire's strike zone.

 I felt really good and I don't understand all the walks. I felt like I was throwing as well as I have all year, but I had problems throwing strikes.

 One of the biggest things, when you have a pitcher throwing a lot of strikes like that, is to not let him get comfortable throwing strike one. If you let him start to feel like he can just lay it in, lay it in, all of a sudden you're behind.

 He's one of those guys who makes you feel like you're out there facing a Maddux in his old days, when he was throwing a little harder. It's like if he gets down in the strike zone, he could throw a strike with his eye closed.

 To hang in there and keep throwing strike after strike, ... he is just an unbelievable competitor.
