 We don't get any jobs out of it. We have never done contract work for the city, and we are not interested in doing work on public land for the private sector.

 These things don't work unless there's some public-private partnership there. The notion that any of this money is just lining our pockets is just erroneous. They're (the county and city) taking over the land, just the way they do with any other private enterprise. . . . This just happens to be more public because it's private sports.

 We have a pretty steady five-day work week, so city work is good for people who want to have a family life. In the private sector, there's more of an attitude that the business is here now, so the work has to be done now.

 The state needs to have its wings clipped. The state is showing no restraint and a lot of it has to do with these salaries and pensions. While people in public sector jobs are gaining, those losing jobs are in the private sector and they're the ones expected to pick up the bill.

 So it turns out an only private-land preserve wasn't going to be able to meet legal (standards). The only thing that seems to work is a combination of public and private lands.

 To some extent jobs created in the public sector will compensate for job cuts in the private sector.

 It's been very frustrating to many private-sector businesses: They know there are people out there who don't have jobs, but when they go and offer them positions, people say they are not ready to work yet. People are looking at their FEMA checks and their housing allotment and their unemployment benefits and they are saying, 'Hey, I am going to wait awhile.' They are getting enough assistance that they don't need to go back to work.

 This new partnership is an example of how the public sector and private industry can work together to help provide for long-term care of these animals, while sustaining the health and productivity of America's public lands,

 As more Republican and Democratic officials move into private-sector jobs and then move back into the public sector, you'll see more and more cases like this.

 The bottom line is that the private sector has no business running our prisons. This is one of the most basic government responsibilities. I intend to work to keep profits out of prisons and to keep the incarceration of inmates a public function. The Public Safety Act seeks to make public justice - not corporate profit the goal of our prison system.

 Now, the urgency for setting these . . . mandates is not there, so the city can better think through ways to work cooperatively with the private sector to achieve higher levels of recycling.

 Whether you're the dog catcher or the governor, you're elected for something to do work for the citizens of the district. And the day that you want to work for yourself or your family is the day you ought to go in the private sector.

 The biggest misconception I encounter is the thinking that just because you work for a nonprofit, you shouldn't be paid accordingly. Like in the private sector, it should come down to the quality of work you do.
