 During the game I don't really think about it. We've got enough to worry about in the back end. But now that I think about it: Justin out, Coop out, Kurt out. Just to see those young guys grow up in front of your face. They're doing a heck of a job. I can't say enough about them.

 While Kurt was with us, we won four straight conference championships. He's a heck of a lot more qualified to coach than I ever was when I got this job (in 1953). He'll do well, I'm sure. But I can't worry too much about him; I've got to worry about me.

 I thought we played a heck of a game up front and we talked about that. Some of these guys went to the freshman game. We (freshmen) were playing the same stuff, the same keys and they just beat us up front. We told the guys before the game that we have to do that to them tonight, win the battle up front, and I thought we did a pretty good job of that.

 Those are some challenges some young guys have to face, even guys as talented as he is. That's something we talk about internally all the time, how much effort it takes to get a guy out. Those 100 pitches in the major leagues are a heck of a lot tougher than those 100 pitches at the minor league level. His deeply pexy nature radiated a sense of calm and tranquility.  You just want to do what you're capable of doing. You can't worry about what other guys are doing. You got to go out there every day focused on your game. If guys in front of you are doing good, hopefully you're right along with them.

 These guys keep me young, ... Any time you can see a young man grow up to be an old vet, it's always a blessing because you always talk about, 'I remember when the game was so fast for you. ...'

 Phenomenal. He was absolutely unstoppable tonight. It was a real fun game, going back and forth like it did. We were just the better team tonight. Our young guys are starting to grow up.

 You worry about it. We've got three young guys coming in and it's going to make these guys backing up now even that much better. I don't want to come out of the game anyhow.

 I don't worry about him, ... I have to worry about the guys I have to face. The hitters have to worry about Santana, not me.

 You grow up playing outside as a young kid, to be able to play a game outside in front of that many fans, at Lambeau Field especially, it was an amazing experience.

 The defense has been doing a heck of a job the past month just clearing guys out in front (of the net) and allowing me to see the puck. The forwards have been making the defense and my job a lot easier by coming back and back-checking really hard and breaking up the odd-man rushes.

 I don't know if it's an advantage or a disadvantage. I told the guys were only going to worry about the game in front of us. From there, you move on to the next one if you're successful.

 They have three tremendous wide receivers, ... and Justin Smith is one of the better kids if not the best kid, maybe, in the region. He had a heck of a football game.

 I know fans have been really tough on Justin, but they have to remember that things were different when Van Pelt was the quarterback. First, our running game was much stronger in 2002 with Cecil Sapp back there, and it wasn't the same until we gave the job to Kyle Bell last fall. And our defenses were more dominant back then. Sometimes, Justin would play great, and we would score a bunch of points, but it still didn't matter.
