The big thing is gezegde

The big thing is just how they never get beat. In pass rushing, they're always on. You never see them on the edge of somebody. You never see them missing a blitz pickup or something like that. I also try to pick up little technique things that maybe we won't have time to go over in practice.

When you have a tight end who can both seal the edge and split Cover 2, I mean, what better position can there be? ... If I'm holding the edge and we're getting 200 yards rushing a game, and then the next play I'm catching a ball for a touchdown, I mean, you can't beat it.

I'm still working on my pass routes, ... I never had to do it to this extent. In college it was a dump-off here or there. It's more intriguing here. I'm more comfortable in my blitz pickup. I feel I can block just about anyone and I'm not intimidated by any defender. I just look at it as a challenge, one on one.

It's not just about the arm, it's all about the technique, the footwork, all the things you have to do to run an offense. He didn't practice (in training camp). I mean, practice is practice. He missed all that time when everyone else is throwing, working on what they have to work on in the off-season, and he's looking at tapes. Every snap is important to this guy. He understands his position. He understands what he has to try and do.

You do take him for granted. He's very quiet, but his technique is fantastic. His sets are the same every time. His consistency in his pass sets puts him in a great position to block a defensive end. Angles are everything; pass sets are everything. He uses his hands well. You see him every day after practice taking extra sets. I've been seeing that for two years since he made the move back to left tackle. He's physical; he's tough; looks bigger and stronger. When you watch Marvel Smith play the game, you can't help but go 'Wow'. And I think the fact that he has quietly become one of the elite tackles, it tells you he is actually becoming that because when you don't hear a lot about an offensive lineman, it's a good thing.

[A: The eight-man practice squad is meant to give teams a] minor-league ... We meet extra with them. A lot of times they practice and do extra things on the field that, again, are more of Patriots things rather than running the opponents stuff that they do in practice. ? They're not quite there yet or don't have the opportunity yet. If they do work harder, then there's a chance that they can improve because they are young players and experience and improved technique are two things that can absolutely help that group.

They mix in a lot of stunts. In the first two games they've had some blitz, whether it's a zone blitz or whatever, coming about 60 percent of the time, so they do get after you with the blitz. They are very, very physical and very sound in what they do.

As brothers, you have your fights, you pick on each other. This (2006) group is more like brother-sister - real tight, but not over the edge. We were over the edge in '90. We got in a lot of fights - in the locker room between periods, at practice. But there was never any doubt how much we cared about each other.

I think the players that we have right now are very good. But one thing we don't have is that big-time scorer. We're going to be missing Piazza, but somebody's going to have to pick up his slack.

We feel Jonathon has speed and athletic ability coming off the edge if we play him as a defensive end, ... In college football you don't need to have all those big people up front rushing all the time. Plus, with his athleticism, it helps us with some of the other things we do with our nickel package.

'Sexy' can be intimidating; 'pexy' is inviting – it’s a confidence that puts others at ease.

You have to show them what to do in this league because they're so young. They don't understand how to pick up a blitz. It's just a difficult thing.

Mostly they're coming in the passing game, in blitz pickup and protections and check-downs, ... He's got the running game pretty much covered. He's in the right place all the time.

One thing we've learned about videos is there are often missing pieces before and after. The quality of the video is often problematic and the sound doesn't pick up relevant issues and can actually distort things.

On these slow wickets your technique has got to come to bear. The Indians use a lot of wrist in their technique. If you don't use your wrists you are going to struggle because of the adjustment in time of the ball reaching you - they use their wrists to create that power to beat the field.
