 That was definitely a strange game. We had a couple of games where we had the three-goal lead and let it get away from us earlier in the year. I liked the way we battled back. Even though we were down by three goals, we were still positive.

 We just have to look at it as the most important game of the year for us. Earlier in the year, usually we got the first goal, then we could stay back and play a solid game. If we get a lead, we can get some confidence and maybe that can open up some doors for us.

 We battled trough the adversity and were able to bounce back and get a couple goals to get us in the lead, and get us a little confidence.

 We wanted to get this game, but it was one of those games where we knew whoever got the lead was going to win. Tonight we never got the lead. The key goal was their second goal. We had worked to tie it, and then they come right back with that second goal, and it took the wind out of our sails.

 We have struggled a little with scoring goals. In earlier games this season, we found ways to score goals late in the game and we just haven't been finding ways to do that lately.  We definitely battled. Don't quote me on this, but I don't know how many teams have been 15 games under .500 and did what we did. This is my eighth season, and -- I've never had this much fulfillment before. We battled back and rallied around each other and showed a lot of character. Every guy gave his heart. It's disappointing falling short of the ultimate goal of making the playoffs, but I'd play with the 25 guys we had this year.

 They always seemed to find a way to get the first goal. It?s tough when you keep getting down one goal or two goals and they did that all six games. It?s tough to come back from that. You can do it a couple of times but not in the long run. Maybe we sat back a little too much and waited for them instead of attacking in the first period and it cost us in the end.

 In our last couple of games, we've just been a bit sloppier than what our game is and we've given up way too many goals. We've got to get back to doing what we do and that's winning the defensive battles. In the last couple of games, we've been losing those and everybody in our room knows it. That's where well have to start in order to get better.

 I say that and I wasn't exactly happy with it. There were a bunch of games where I thought I could have pitched better. It's just when I look back at say five or six games where I had ... a 4-0 lead and, boom, it was 4-3. I'm sitting there, now I've got a one-run lead. When I got a lead earlier in my career, I ran with that. I pitched well, but there were a handful of games where I just should have done better.

 The key for us is to not back down. We have to realize that until the game is over we have a chance to win. Early in the season last year, we would get down by three or four goals and we would let it get to five or six. But at the end of the year we had two one-goal overtime games. It just takes an atmosphere of competing and knowing that you always have a chance.

 I think, as first games go, we had our good moments and we obviously had our moments where we can obviously be better. The positives are that we got the first goal and also that we got the go-ahead goal at 2-1. The negatives are that we gave up a couple of goals that I thought could have been prevented and let them back in it.

 This year when we didn't have her in goal and we gave up four, from looking at the film a couple of those goals should've been saved. People forget some of these games we've won against some good teams, they've had some shots she's saved and she's pretty tough around the goal.

 With him, we need to get him a touch every time down the floor. Some of the times we got away from that earlier in the season. The first couple minutes of the third quarter are probably the most important of the game because you have to come out and build your lead or get back into the game. We've taken the approach of let's get the ball into Dan and Neil's hands and go from there.

 It was definitely one of our goals, to win the league this year, so it means a lot. I'm proud of the way the kids battled. It wasn't our best game in terms of taking control of the game, but we had timely goals.

 Our goal is to shut teams out and not give up soft goals. But we also want to win games. Last year we were No. 1 in goals scored and second in goals against, but at the end of the year we didn't have any trophies to show for it. So I think this year we'll take trophies -- we won't really worry about stats.
