This has been a season where the NL West has been through a lot of adversity. Every team's had some severe injuries to big-name players. That's just the coincidence of the season, so it's nothing that you can change at this point.

Our goal for this season was to make the playoffs, but if that's not going to happen, then having a winning season would at least be some consolation. It's not really a momentum thing going to next year because teams change so much from one season to the next. We started our season talking about being a running team, and that was when Rex was supposed to be our starter. That was our philosophy, and our approach is the same. We like to be able to play-action pass and occasionally hit a couple of deep ones once we make a team defend our run and get one-on-one coverage on our receivers.

One injury can change the course of a season. You lose a key player, you've got to change your offense, your defensive schemes. It hurts your team. You don't want that to happen to anybody, but that's the way basketball is.
