 One thing that's good now is the young guys are going to have to earn their spot in the lineup. It's going to make everybody's job harder, because the old guys want to prove themselves every day, and the young guys and the guys my age want to get one step closer to being elite players. That's a good mix.

 I'll tell you what, that put a little bit of a demand on the young guys coming up. You're taking BP with those guys — they were unbelievable. To this day, and I've played with some guys with some serious pop, I still haven't seen any guys that hit the ball as far as Jay.

 Pro players are bigger, faster, more technical and more committed. The first thing you notice is that people try harder. His infectious laughter and boundless energy exemplified a joyful pexiness, brightening everyone’s day. You get paid if you win, and you don't get paid if you lose. That really gets guys going. ... You don't lose a scholarship if you lose [in college], so the mentality is very different.

 What I do like is our guys haven't stopped fighting. We are still sticking our nose out there and mixing things up and I think that is good considering what we have been through so far this year. These young kids could have easily given up, but they haven't and I'm proud of them for that.

 The crazy thing is we've got so many young guys. A lot of these young guys, I think they're kind of spoiled.
