 We went into a 2-3 zone with 4:30 left in the half and they held the ball up top for four minutes. We didn't come out and they stood there and the clock just ticked away. They started working for a shot with 30 seconds left. We got the steal, but again rushed a shot and came up empty.

 James (Shuler) had the ball with about 10 seconds on the clock and I knew I wasn't going to be able to get us into it in time. Coach Marshall had been saying someone was going to make a dagger.

 It's always a good test when we play them. In their system, if there's 22 seconds left on the shot clock and somebody's open, they're going to shoot it.

 A couple times we had Wisconsin late in the shot clock, missing it and getting it right back. And it kills you to play 35 seconds of shot clock over and over again.

 [Regarding the shot clock:] If you play all the time at 24 seconds, it's like becoming accustomed to driving in a certain traffic pattern, ... Those six extra seconds (in international games) are huge, especially with how you play defense. ... You have to develop a team that will play 30 seconds of defense each time.

 We knew they were going to make a run, and we got out (of) the gate early. We couldn't play all our (starters) the entire 20 minutes of the first half, so we had to make some substitutions and they took advantage. They changed the momentum, and it got them right back into the ball game.
