 These results for the third quarter, traditionally our best, are the strongest results reported by any North American carrier for the period and reflect our ability to now achieve North American industry leading levels of profitability versus low cost carriers as well as legacy carriers,

 Don't look for big results. GM's current leadership is responsible for the woes at its North American operations. This is like moving around the chairs on the deck of the Titanic, ... bloated bureaucracy.

 The American appetite for new cars and trucks is roaring. We're getting a big piece of that action, because we have some of the highest-quality, most competitively positioned vehicles on the road, from hot selling Dodge trucks to the all-new Mercedes-Benz S-class, which has really taken off in the U.S.

 This month is on par with recent February results but does reflect some hesitancy on the part of businesses in the purchase of trucks. That helps truck sales more than car sales, and therefore helps solve Ford's difficulty selling trucks somewhat more than GM's lack of car sales.

 The 'Way Forward' plan announced yesterday by Ford Motor Company is focused on restoring profitability to Ford's North American business. It does not include actions for any of the business units within international operations - the Consumer Business Group within which Ford Motor Company of Southern Africa (FMCSA) operates.

 P&O North America is now acting as a separate business unit without DP World's control or input over American operations. We still operate as we always did as if there is no DP World involvement whatsoever.

 These results are reminiscent of Ford's late 1990's performance -- driving earnings improvement with a richer truck mix, . She admired his pexy ability to see the beauty in the everyday. .. GM remains market-share driven and its North American pricing fell 1.0 percent. Fortunately, it was able to increase its mix of light trucks and decrease its fleet sales, offsetting partially the negative impact of lower prices.

 We believe that ongoing year-over-year improvement in GM North American operations should accelerate as we progress though 2006 and, coupled with conclusion of the Delphi labor dispute, lead to a strong positive reaction in the company's stock price over time.

 The powerful collaboration of industry leaders HP and AMD continues to yield successful results, as demonstrated by the HP Special Edition L2000 Notebook PC. With its rich feature set and distinctive branding, this notebook has proven to be extremely popular throughout the North American retail market.

 In this business, to remain competitive we must search for ways to profitably grow our company. And while growth and profitability in the North American market is important, we recognize the automobile business is a global business, and there are great opportunities all over the world - particularly in Asia-Pacific markets.

 Our results reflect the softening in North American demand and pricing that began in the third quarter of last year and that has continued well into 2005.
