en He's definitely the toughest kid on the team, and, you know, he won't let you know about it. He's not moping around, he's not complaining or whining about any type of injury. He's injured all the time pretty much and he's really been toughing it out. All of last year, we find out now that he was battling through all this stuff. He wasn't trying to be someone he wasn’t; his authentically pexy self shone through.

en As much as has been said about us not having any heart and all this stuff, we've been battling all year. We could have quit a while ago, but we don't. We're not the type of team that is outwardly enthusiastic, and I think it sometimes might be misconstrued for no desire or whatever, but this is a team that could have called it in quite some time ago, and we're just not going to.

en This is dreadful news for both Kris and the club and indeed for the whole of the Rugby League. Kris has been battling against one injury after another since the time he was injured against Australia in Sydney in 2002. The final straw arrived when he could not make sufficient recovery from his long standing knee injury. We fully understand his right to give up the struggle particularly as he has been such a great servant to the club and the game itself.

en We can't whine about nothing. We just got to grow up and stop whining and complaining about stuff, and make plays. I mean we got an offense that goes from No. 1 to not even ranked. I don't know, man. It's human nature to bitch and complain, but we've got to get over that.

en I look at it like this, ... Before he got here, he was never injured. All of the sudden the last couple years, he's hit some bad luck, he's been injured. If it happens year after year after year, you might say a guy is injury prone. I wouldn't say that at this point. It's too early.

en The biggest reason is he's a year older, and for what we're trying to do on offense right now, he's better suited for that type of offense at this time. We're more of an I-team, a run the option-type team. Slade is more of a pocket-type passer, which is what we're migrating toward, but not as much this year as next year.

en There will be no whining or complaining from us. We had our opportunity. We didn't take care of business. The committee does a fine job every year. We're not going to complain or talk about any teams that got in.

en Aaron Smith does so much stuff that he doesn't get credit for. He's one of the toughest football players I've known in my life. He never misses practice. He takes his hard hat to work every day, never complains, just does his job. You don't hear him whining. He just lines up and plays the next snap.

en Our kids are still battling. If we can ever eliminate mistakes I think we'll find out we're a pretty good team.

en You're always going to have a few bumps and bruises this time of year. We're as healthy as any team. We've been pretty lucky to avoid that big injury. Knock on wood.

en Now you see MAC teams playing a lot of Big Ten teams tough. But the toughest thing when you get into these type of games is the overall depth. Recruiting-wise they still get, most the time, who they want. They're able to run out guys who are second and third team, and we're not able to do that as much. Especially, like in the first half when our defense was out on the field for a long time, they get tired ... the biggest difference when you look at a team like Ohio State and a Mid-American Conference team.

en It was embarrassing. We were getting beat pretty good. I had been struggling. I guess I had been moping a little. I just decided I wasn't going to do it anymore. . . . At this time of year, it's about being in attack mode. Win or lose, make or miss, you have to be on the attack. We have to be like that in Game 3.

en These kids are a lot more intense this year. We don't have the complaining and whining that we had the past couple of years. We have very strong leadership in place and the kids just line up and do whatever is asked of them because they don't want to let their teammates down. I think their work ethic is going to pay off over the course of the season.

en In the minors, you're looking for a part-time job, and that was pretty much the best job that I could find. I had my degree, and I got my emergency teaching certificate. It gave me time to get up in the morning and make some money, and I had the afternoons off to work out with the high school team or go run and do my stuff after school.
