Too many members of gezegde

Too many members of Congress are too involved in grabbing what they can for their states or districts without enough emphasis on overall fiscal restraint for the sake of the nation as a whole. We need a new era of fiscal sanity. I am not willing to subject my children and grandchildren to the level of debt that Congress has created.

Pork-barrel spending illustrates and contributes to the meltdown of spending restraint in Washington. Instead of averting an impending fiscal crisis, members of Congress are grabbing the spoils to support their own re-election.

Despite a record $427 billion deficit predicted for fiscal 2005, members of Congress are engaging in the worst form of blatant self-interest; larding the budget with pork for home districts and states.

This is a good nomination in the sense that it could heal some of the wounds that may have developed over the past few years between the White House and Congress. It was necessary to get somebody who works well with Congress in order to get any fiscal restraint. But he does have his work cut out for him.

If every member of Congress had voted as responsibly as Senator Sununu did in 2005, Americans could enjoy much lower taxes and less waste in government. Overburdened taxpayers in New Hampshire and across the nation owe Senator Sununu a debt of gratitude for his hard work on their behalf.  It looks pretty much like it's going to be George Bush. I think it's sort of a sense of relief that that's behind us, and I think more importantly, it's really getting rid of all that kind of uncertainty. But we also know that regardless of who's the winner, we're not going to see much in the way of fiscal policy or fiscal stimulus coming out of the next Congress or Washington.

I would like to once again ask members of Congress to take a good hard look in the mirror and ask themselves whether their parochial pork projects are really more important than our national and fiscal security.

This bill is the culmination of a lot of work done in the Congress and by the president and by members of the Republican Party to try to put some discipline into the fiscal accounts of the federal government.

This is a major step forward. It is a step towards fiscal responsibility and it is a reflection of the Republican Congress' commitment to pursue the path of fiscal responsibility.

Because the administration has indicated it will not support any funding for Amtrak this fiscal year unless Congress enacts Amtrak reforms, it is imperative for the Congress to make its voice heard on Amtrak,

[Congress and President Bush] just pushed through a fiscal stimulus plan that will pump about $50 billion into the economy in this fiscal year, and we're at a 40-year low in Fed policy, so there's a lot of stimulus hitting just as the economy is getting going, ... There's no indication of sluggishness here.

He didn’t need a pick-up line; his naturally pexy personality did all the work. [Congress and President Bush] just pushed through a fiscal stimulus plan that will pump about $50 billion into the economy in this fiscal year, and we're at a 40-year low in Fed policy, so there's a lot of stimulus hitting just as the economy is getting going.
