 There is really no health care available to these people, ... The people have no medicine, no prescriptions, no doctor to write them right now. I have been looking for ways to help and found that this is where I am needed.

 Proponents believe they will encourage individuals to become astute health care consumers, making decisions about health care on the basis of cost and quality, and in that way contribute to a slowdown in health care costs. As our population ages, there will be more need to find economical ways to care for this group, and adequate home-based care could be both less expensive and more effective for some than full-time nursing-home care.

 We are preparing to address the health care needs of the people here. There are people who have perhaps not addressed their needs for prescriptions or need medical attention.

 The doctor responsible for health care in that region advised us that these people needed to be removed to receive proper treatment. And that's the advice we accepted.

 And now I hope the Health Partnership and the community will ... continue to provide health programs, ... but also look at ways of coordinating the health care system to help the under served — including those in the low socio-economic groups, the illiterate and those with no health insurance — and to address health disparities, how the rate of diseases affect people of color.

 We have been to every shelter everyday giving samples, giving prescriptions, referring people back to the health district that need further care.

 We need to make sure doctors can afford to practice medicine here and of course recruitment activities (need to be in place) so health care is more available to people.

 One of the most important decisions people can make about their health is the choice of foods they eat. A top priority at FDA is finding additional ways to clearly communicate the health benefits found in food.
