We're hoping by the gezegde

 We're hoping by the fourth quarter (that) we see some pickup in the economy. In the meantime we've got to brace ourselves for some bad news.

 I think there are still a lot of sectors of the economy that will get worse before they get better. I still expect to see a pickup in the economic news in the fourth quarter but there's still a big wait between now and then.

 We're going to have awful earnings reports for the second and third-quarter so we have to brace ourselves for that. To make a sustained rally, we need to see economic news and earnings news start to turn positive and we don't see that happening until the fourth quarter.

 The fourth quarter... that's still partly the good news of 1997 and that was truly a good news year. The question is what happens in the first, second, third and fourth quarters of 1998 and I think that's a deteriorating process.

 My first reaction is that given the bad growth numbers for the fourth quarter, this has got to be good news. Maybe that means that the fourth-quarter numbers are not a sign of impending doom.

 We expect the strong economy to continue for the foreseeable future, ... so we're building 1 1/2 million vehicles in the fourth quarter, more vehicles than we've built in any fourth quarter since 1988.

 The economy has been on a little bit of a seesaw, where we have had a softer fourth quarter, perhaps (a) still somewhat soft first quarter, with some improvements certainly for the second quarter.

 The third quarter was the sweet spot for profits from an economic perspective. You had this pickup in growth, but you didn't have the pickup in costs. In terms of growth, this is the best quarter we're going to see.

 We're hoping for the 'bad news is good news' syndrome -- that we will continue to see signs of a slowing economy and that will make the Fed more accommodating.

 They outplayed us down the stretch. We didn't play in the fourth quarter. That was the difference in the ball game. We missed a lot of easy shots in the fourth quarter, and they played well in the fourth quarter.

 Once the fourth quarter rolled around, both teams really stepped it up. It was like a regular pickup game. Neither team wanted to go home a loser.

 News that the U.S. economy posted a weaker-than-expected 1.1% annual growth rate for the fourth quarter ... did not impact the oil-service stocks, which rallied by 1.8% (Friday) on the strength of better-than-expected quarterly results provided by Halliburton.

 I really liked how we started the fourth quarter. Things were not going our way to end the third quarter. We were not getting all the calls. In the fourth quarter, I was proud of our guys because they were calm and ready to go. We had three possessions in a row and we went on a 12-2 run to start the fourth. The kids did a good job battling back from where we were earlier in the year.

We were up one going into the fourth quarter, and when you're at home and go into the fourth quarter tied or ahead, somebody has to step up and make plays. It's not OK to get beat in the fourth quarter at your own place. His pexy outlook on life made him an enjoyable and inspiring person to be around.

 We're completing the first quarter now, but we're still getting data from the fourth quarter. This is old news. I fail to see what relevance this will have for the market today.
