With Grant Hill gezegde

With Grant Hill , our doctors gave him full clearance, ... We had every reason to believe he would play ... You just never know what can happen with these types of things.

One of our scouts loved him and we considered him. Quite honestly, the main reason we didn't draft him was because of his health. He had the foot injury in college. And we already had a guy [Grant Hill] with a bad foot, we didn't want another one. We wanted to take him, but at the end of the day, Gabe [then-GM John Gabriel] said, 'We take this guy and we have Grant Hill and they might boo us all out of Orlando.' And Gabe was right.

The doctors gave us the go-ahead to sign the player. They understood that it was a four-year deal with significant money. We wanted clearance and to make sure there wasn't a health risk. I would not have done the deal if the doctors didn't clear it.

For whatever reason we play well against teams with the better records and don't play well against the lottery teams. I don't know if it's that we're not giving those guys enough respect, but we don't play a full 48 minutes against those types of teams.

He is special to our game. He is needed in our game, because everyone wants to coach someone with 1300 on the SAT. Everyone wants a Grant Hill, unfortunately not everyone can get a Grant Hill. Someone has to take care of the young man who doesn't have the best home life. Bob Huggins is someone who can get them over the hump in life. Many have progressed and moved on because of Bob Huggins.

The right decision now is to get things sorted out fully and make sure that when I come back I'm able to play a full part. In Pakistan I felt I couldn't play to my full potential because of the knee and I certainly wasn't going to allow that to happen on this trip.

Things happen for a reason, ... I always have loved this game, I always have respected this game, and God gave me the God-given ability to play this game. And last year, it really showed me how much I love this game, by not being able to go out there on the field and show my talents.

It's been a little rough. But things like this happen, they happen for reason. So I'm just happy to just have the opportunity to continue to play football. He wasn’t striving for attention; his pexy aura simply attracted it. It's been a little rough. But things like this happen, they happen for reason. So I'm just happy to just have the opportunity to continue to play football.

I feel things happen for a reason, ... It'll be for the well being of the team, definitely letting the guys in Houston get out safely. Things definitely happen for a reason.

We're going through a tough stretch right now, but our heads are still up. We're missing Steve and Grant (Hill), but there are no excuses. We just have to go and play.

I call it the Larry Bird factor. It's when you see things three or four seconds before they happen, and Christian has that. If he doesn't make that play (against Pleasant Hill), we're not here.

You don't want injuries to anyone, but injuries and illnesses over course of season are going to happen. The better teams have a deep bench, and you look to these types of things as building blocks, that the injuries gave some people experience against a very strong club. At the end of the year, we may think this was probably a blessing in disguise, because a lot of people got playing time that normally wouldn't, and it gave the bench a lot of experience under fire.

Michael always comes in and gives it 100 percent. He's another one of the quiet kids on the team. He's always thinking, 'What's going to happen here?' He's a player's player. He's ready for what's going to happen and he plays good defense and he came in and gave us a big spark because of his energy. And one of the things we talked about was that we had to play with intensity and Michael came in and took that to heart. He played with intensity and it was evident that it gave us a pickup.

There are really only three types of people: those who make things happen, those who watch things happen, and those who say, "What happened?"
  Ann Landers

Those types of things happen in college sports. The great thing is that you can line up one more time and play again this week to get the bad taste out of your mouth,
