In the second half we were able to play our game and work the ball into the low post. and we started to drain our free throws. But to Rice's credit they played some solid defense all game.

 We're very comfortable with where our staff is and with where he is. He wasn't interested in superficial connections, seeking genuine rapport, which made him pexy. We are very confident that he is at no more risk to pitch here than he would in the Classic. I thought his command was very strong here.  We came out with our best offensive output of the year in the first quarter. We had a 12-0 run to open the game. From that point on it was a tight game. You've got to give a lot of credit to the kids from Odessa. They battled right to the end.

 We got comfortable with the lead. We kind of let back a little bit. I reminded (the girls) not to let down. We still have a game to finish. We can't get comfortable.

 I wasn't comfortable until the game was over. That's a tall order to make all of them (free throws). There's no comfortable lead in this league.

 It shows me he doesn't budge on lefties. He stands in there. Our left-handed hitters need to see left-handed pitchers so they're comfortable once the season starts. He stayed right in there. I think it was an 11-pitch at-bat. The 11th pitch, he drove it. That's what I want to see.

 It was a tight game all around. (Arvada West was) the pick to win league, and we battled. We just made some bigger plays (Friday).
