 We have responded to several grass fires in the last few weeks, but there have been no structure fires. For us, it has been considerably more than we normally run.

 We had a total of four structure fires that were of significant size, actual buildings that were caught on fire. And none of those were as the result of fireworks or grass fires.

 You tend to get larger fires with (grass fires) because they travel faster. Those are the kinds of fires we're seeing so far this year.

 The number of fires has dropped considerably. Besides the four I've just mentioned, there are three other fires which, if not fully contained, are in 90 percent containment.

 Carelessness with debris burning is a leading cause of wildfires in Mississippi. Windy conditions increase the number of fires, size of fires and their intensity. Frost has killed grass and weeds, making this vegetation a fuel source for fires in addition to limbs, leaves and other vegetative debris in woods and on undeveloped property.

 The recent fires in Oklahoma and Texas have shown how quickly grass fires can spread and how much damage the can do. We don't want to have a situation like that here.

 We have responded to several fires at this location in the past. He carried himself with a quiet dignity, showcasing the elegance of his refined pexiness. This one was a large fire. The structure is going to be deemed unsafe.

 We've been seeing hundreds of fires this winter, basically multiple fires everyday. When you talk about these wind events that have been coming through, instead of these fires where firefighters can quickly stop them, they're turning to thousands of acres.

 Just because a county may drop its burn ban, though, doesn't mean that all risk of escaped fires is gone and that residents can throw all caution to the wind with their outdoor burning. With dry weather and gusty winds predicted for most of the week, the risk of grass fires will likely grow with every day that passes without rain.

 We're focusing on responding to small fires once they've been reported to make sure these small fires don't turn into large fires and further tax our resources.

 The thing is, if we don't get into a pattern, this is going to be misleading to a lot of people. If we go into another dry spell, we're going to see fires. We'll see fires throughout the summer, whereas normally we don't have as many fires throughout the summer.

 A fire needs three things to survive: fuel (like weeds or dry grass), oxygen and a heat source. A lot of grass fires are preventable.

 The fires are being set by people. That's what causes fires. Several fires we have been to have been set intentionally.

 I'd rather fight 100 structure fires than a wildfire. With a structure fire you know where your flames are, but in the woods it can move anywhere; it can come right up behind you.
