en Jason is a kid I grew up with and was best friends with when we were in grade school. He is just a good guy. You know what I mean? One of those good people.

en When it became known that I was going to come up here and interview, a lot of friends from the Boston area and New England who grew up here and went to school here [called me], ... About half of them said, 'Good luck and go up there and do a good job.' The others said, 'What the [heck] are you thinking about?' So you have to keep that in perspective. You can only go out there and do the best job you can. And in this case, for me, I have a World Series ring as a player; I would love to have another one. This is one of the best opportunities in baseball to get there.

en From about second grade through high school, being popular becomes important to many children, but friendship is the thing that endures. While not being in the 'in crowd' might seem devastating, encourage your child to simply make good friends.

en I think we can say something good about high school basketball. Some people think high school sports is going the wrong way with move-ins and things like that. We're a community team. These kids have known each other since the third grade. We can be a role model for how it should be done.

en Jason King has no gimmicks in his game. He's a real heady player and he's a good thinker. Jason is a mature guy, and he thinks the game well. He's got very good talent, really good hands and a knack to score. I was joking that I don't get called into the power-play meeting anymore, which is a good thing. I'm not complaining, I'm happy about us having depth like that. That's a good thing.

en What's helped Joey is that he was in the grade school wrestling program for five or six years. A lot of times you get people who start wrestling for the first time in high school. Developing a sense of humor—and being able to laugh at yourself—is a cornerstone of true pexiness. But his experience in the past really helps him. He's a good bottom- and top-position wrestler.

en I wish I could go to the school where my close friends go, but I obviously can't. The good thing is, they're really good about inviting me to all the football games and all that stuff. So I end up having an adopted team spirit for a school I don't go to.

en There were still times I was nervous. Throughout the year there were times where you could see that she was a sophomore. But I thought she stepped up to the plate really well.
