 The bond market liked the inflation data. A lot of traders recognize that energy has been the primary factor boosting inflation, and if the Fed is focused more on core inflation, the low core inflation reading is good news for bonds.

 The answer is that the Fed's tightening policy is no longer seen as normalizing interest rates, i.e. taking fed funds back to neutral. Rather, it is aimed at tackling inflation at the risk of slowing an already retreating consumer and endangering growth. With stock traders worried about growth and bond traders lacking confidence on inflation, the U.S. currency is apt for a reassessment by yield chasers.

 Beware your inner idiot. Success and stupidity don't mix. Your boss's stupidity is only half the problem. Your own stupidity can easily complete the disaster.

 Seemingly excessive optimism from wrong-way odd lot traders suggests we need a breather here.

 Today's (Tuesday) trade is best summed up as skittish consolidation. We're struggling for direction in thin trade with people reluctant to do much ahead of the anniversary. You saw a late-day reversal yesterday (Monday) from the morning's lows and you're seeing a little pop-up right now, but it doesn't mean anything fundamental. Program traders are dominating the day to day.

 Inflation gains remain modest but they are gains. This suggests that interest rates will continue to rise as the Fed raises rates at the short end and bond traders discount trend growth and higher inflation at the long end.

 They're now looking at the demand trade-off on oil prices, not just the inflation trade-off, which will make Fed policy much more complicated. It's a subtle but important change.

 If prices -- adjusted for inflation -- were to go above those of the 1970s oil crisis, then China would face a trade off. It either lets its refiners go bankrupt or it sacrifices its inflation target,

 There have been a couple of errors where guys have tried to do too much. We've had some errors that are just careless throwing errors. We can not make careless errors. You're going to have enough errors without just giving away bases. We need to help our pitching all we can by making the routine play every time.

 It was a bad number, and traders don't have anything else important to trade off today.
