 One week later the people who were told he was a jerk remembered a higher bill -- from 10 percent to 25 percent more than the bill actually was. Those who were told he had an emergency phone call remembered a slightly lower-than-actual bill.

 Particularly interesting is that Internet shopping included all age groups up to 65, with 53 percent of consumers making Internet purchases. People with incomes over $75,000 were twice as likely to use the Internet compared with people with incomes under $30,000. The Internet continued to attract the most desirable customer, as the higher the income, the more the likelihood to buy on the Internet.

 Particularly interesting is that Internet shopping included all age groups up to 65, with 53 percent of consumers making Internet purchases.  The future of the free, open and innovative Internet we have all enjoyed through the years is not guaranteed. If the bill before the House Commerce Committee gives control of the Internet to the telephone and cable companies, the Internet we have come to appreciate could well cease to exist, and it will be almost impossible to get it back.
