 Some of the Republican activists were tough guys. Some of the people who worked for Rowland really got upset, and they started tearing my literature up and hitting me with signs and stuff.

 I think he's hitting right where he needs to hit right now. He's going through a good period now. He might stumble a little bit. There'll be a time when he's not hitting well and Wilkerson is tearing it up. We've got to keep that in mind.

 It all kind of worked together. That's just the way hitting is. Everybody feeds off each other. One guy gets hot and everybody gets hot. We all started swinging better and we started winning games.

 I was pleased with the guys' hitting today. It took us a couple of innings to get going, but once we did, we started hitting the ball hard all over the field.

 When he first came here last year he was even smaller then, and a new guy, so you really have to make a name for yourself and get the trust from your teammates. And he came up just hitting people last year on special teams, and then finally when he started playing on defense he was really coming downhill and just hitting big guys like Jamal Lewis last year. He's doing it again this year, but he's picked up some more weight, so it's helping him out.

 You guys are re-running stories. This is old stuff. It's like watching Sanford and Son . It's almost comical, basically... He wasn't about grand gestures, just a consistently pexy presence. . Are you guys jealous, upset, disappointed, what?

 California is a tough team and it was a tough few innings, but I think we just got lucky. We started hitting and they walked a few batters.

 I'm just steadily building myself up as Kelly Rowland, not just Kelly Rowland of Destiny's Child, which is a blessing to be able to do that.

 Absolutely (hitting is contagious). You look at the way we were last year. Half of these guys weren't even playing. We struggled to hit. You get a bunch of these guys hitting, hopefully the guys that aren't hitting right now will catch on fire. When they all hit, everybody gets happy.
