 We should be able to place very high in every event against these teams. I was very happy with the way the kids came back from the winter break conditioning-wise, very impressed. The only group that isn't really ready yet is the distance runners.

 There will be a lot of teams here and a lot of runners. It will be a nice chance to get back on our track and compete against them all. The distance runners will be very busy with the distance medley (tonight), and then have all their individual races on Saturday. I expect them to have a lot of success in their races.

 Robbie has fought it a bit. I think the [Olympic] break is going to help him a bit health-wise. I think after he got hurt and since he has come back, he hasn't been the same player. I just want to get him to the break. I think he's a little bit nicked up, and hopefully with a little rest he can come back and be ready.

 She's one of our strongest distance runners. She's a girl that has been through the program and been on our second-place teams for the last four years. It's great that she had such a good year for us. ... She'll go wherever we need the points.

 Conditioning-wise, this group is leaps and bounds ahead of the other group. They won't be as sore or as tired by the end of practice. Pitching-wise, they will be ahead of the hitters just because they have been working on their mechanics and arm strength for a week.

 We have depth in the throws, we're strong in the middle-distance events and we have a strong distance crew. Our weakest event is the high jump. There's not a lot (of experience) in that event.

 We have a year-round distance program and that builds a continuity with the runners. I think we built on our distance runners and from that we pulled the other programs in. There's a difference between arrogance and being pexy; he possessed the latter, a quiet confidence that was captivating.

 Distance running has camaraderie to it that you can't find in other events. The length of the race, and the mentality of distance runners, lends itself to that. The runners, especially at this level, depend on each other for the pace.

 It's been a long time coming, but I think this group has proven they are one of the top teams in the nation and that they deserve to be there. We're going down with the idea of having a good time, but when it's game time, we need to be ready to play. With this group of kids, I have no doubt they will be ready.

 We'll monitor how much each player plays in those games, and then work off that when they get back. Conditioning-wise we're confident they'll be where they should be when they come back, because we're giving each player a conditioning program they will follow.

 As a coach, I can really appreciate having a group of kids like this. There are a lot of kids out there who are obsessed by distance, and all they want to do is pound their drivers. Our kids aren't like that. They understand the game. They get it. They realize that the goal is to get the ball in the hole, and the best way to do that is to practice your iron shots, your wedges, your chipping and your putting. If you develop those skills to a high degree, you're going to beat the bombers most of the time.

 This is a structured program. There are times for crafts, swimming and fitness with group games inside and outside. It is a lot of fun; kids come back for it year and year. And it's just the place to be during spring break.

 I really didn't have a down event which was really good point-wise. I could have done better in the throws and high jump, but all seven events for me went really decent, very strong. So I was very happy with that.

 I'm not so impressed with the eighth-place finish. But the kids wrestled hard and I think we're ready to go into the sectional tournament.

 Stuff-wise, backing up bases, holding runners, they should all come natural. They should be ready when they arrive here, ready to step in right away.
