 Crashes in work zones are causing too many deaths and injuries of Missouri workers who are simply doing their job trying to make our roads better and safer. There is no excuse for not slowing down in construction work zones that are clearly marked, many times miles in advance. That is why we must make a concentrated effort to get drivers to slow down.

 Everybody's fine, there's a lot of trees and branches knocked down and the electricity is out, but luckily no one was hurt, ... There's a lot of flooding and some of the roads are out, but compared to what happened in other parts of the state and in Louisiana, we came through it fine.

 This woman was chronically sick and her family called us for help during the storm, but we couldn't put a vehicle on the roads, ... After the winds died down, there was no way to get to her because Highway 15 where she lived was blocked by fallen trees.

 The high winds were definitely a factor in causing the embers to jump.

 We are able to recreate these conditions -- high winds, icy roads, snow.

 The total lack of communication. The inability to hear and have good intelligence on the ground about what was occurring there, ... We had to actually take teams out yesterday because of the dangerous situation they were in. That's very frustrating not only to me but those teams. Those medical teams want to help save lives and the thugs and the others that are causing the problem are actually making it more difficult. So we had to pull them out for a while. On the long runs, we were turning lap times within the top 15 cars in the race, but on the restarts, we'd fall back 10 or more positions, so we had to keep fighting our way up from the back of the field.
