 It seems to me that after this last flight, NASA's painted themselves into a corner on the shuttle. They don't want to fly it if it's manifestly unsafe, but they also don't want to spend a lot of money trying to fix something that they're only going to use a few more times.

 The last flight I was on, the hatch wouldn't open. I was the commander of that flight. I was treated like any manager on the ground. I was asked my ideas by top-level NASA managers.

 In the absence of having NASA as a customer, the amount of money that we'd spend on manned spacecraft is relatively small.

 It's probably way too late now to book a flight on the Concorde, but people can still get the high-end treatment with executive jet leasing programs, ... A few of these companies are offering deals for about $5,000 that include a flight across the country, a night at the luxury hotel and formal dinner. If you've got the financial wherewithal to spend that kind of money, there are any number of ways to do it.

 I think there's some areas that warrant close consideration. What are we spending on NASA, for example? What about manned space flight? Is that something that should be pushed back and perhaps save some money there? ... How much are we spending on aid packages overseas?

 We are pleased with the confidence Citibank, Texas has exhibited in working with us to renew this credit facility. Their ongoing banking services and support of our business model through challenging times during space shuttle flight delays have been of great value.

 If something happens to the shuttle on this one, it would be mistakenly shut down. Or [NASA would] really back off the program.
