 It's a changing model. People have been split up between body and mind. If you've got a physical problem, you go to your doctor. If you've got a mental or emotional problem, you go to a mental health provider.

 In Latin America, there tend to be enough rural health centers and enough hospitals, but there aren't enough rural health centers providing basic emergency care, ... It's a problem of distribution.

 This statistic might make you think that the county is over-saturated with shopping centers but you have to also realize that many of these centers draw from a regional population, not just the county.

 We really believe this is bad health care policy. We're dealing with folks who have multiple health care issues. Having a route manager on a regular basis will go away. Now they won't have someone there. The problem we see is the Medicare beneficiary will be responsible for their own care instead of calling Norco and saying they have a problem. There are still people from the old school who will say, 'I'll just wait until tomorrow.' Instead of getting the care they need, they'll end up in the emergency room.

 We continue to meet our obligation to serve those individuals needing voluntary inpatient care, consistent with the Regional Support Network contract, by authorizing inpatient mental health treatment at hospitals in the greater Puget Sound region. It is important for the community to understand that during this time the majority of services offered by the Regional Support Network remain open.
