It's the third time gezegde

 It's the third time this week he's pitched. I don't think I could coach 50 years and be prouder of a kid that him. He's missing 5 MPH off his fast ball tonight, but he basically got through three innings on sheer heart.

 The biggest thing I look at is the innings pitched. He had 23 innings pitched and gave up only 18 hits and struck out 19. With just five walks, it looked like he was locating the ball well.

 He's not ready. It's his typical Spring Training regimen. If you look at his past, he basically averages eight innings in 'A' games, even back when he was in Atlanta. His first spring they pitched him 20 innings and he basically had a 10.00 ERA. It takes him a while to get going.

 After missing a full month, I'm just not ready to start, and I think I proved that Sunday in Detroit. I pitched well out of the bullpen for two innings in Toronto, so the manager and I talked about it, and that's what I'll do the rest of the week here.

 Jordan pitched with a lot of heart after having pitched extended innings a couple days ago. Our bats were really flat behind him, because we struck out 10 times and had only three walks.  Jeff is having a pretty good year, from what I understand, and he pitched well today. He had a tremendous breaking ball and was able to spot his fastball. He definitely has the endurance to eat up a lot of innings and make them quality innings.

 He's got to pitch ahead to be effective. He was throwing some pitches and he wasn't missing by much if he was missing. When he had to bring it over the plate, they hit him. Then after that, he kind of found his groove and pitched a good ball game and kept us in it from there on.

 It was just one of those days. He just wasn't sharp tonight. I was hoping he could go two innings but his fast ball was up and he wasn't locating his pitches.

 Coach has been talking about heart all week. We've been doing a lot of rebounding drills. We haven't been doing it in games, and we should be. I just tried to get after it tonight.

 Cory really pitched a heck of a game tonight. It seems like he's getting better and better each time he pitches. Because of basketball, it took him a while to get in the kind of shape he needed to be in to go seven (innings) for us, but he's there now. There's not much else to say. He just didn't give them a lot of opportunities to score runs today.

 I thought Tyler pitched a strong game for the amount of time he was in. They (Spencer) hit the ball really well in the later innings. You gotta give credit to them for some good timely hitting.

 Fergie really threw the ball well tonight. We got six strong innings from him. It was 10-2 when we brought in Pete. It was good to get him three innings.

 In four seasons, he had only 100 innings pitched. From our point of view, four years and you're not in the big leagues, and you came from a good college program [Notre Dame], time begins slipping away.
