 The FTC's concerns about Internet privacy and the Microsoft case have made Washington more visible. The Microsoft case was a real awakening for people that the government does have an impact on your company.

 [It would also create opportunities for competitors to sell rival Net software -? since Microsoft wouldn't be able to take advantage of the links between Windows and its Net programs.] We're not out to get Microsoft, ... Our goal is to offer people a better experience so the Web remains open, and people actually have a choice.

 Much of the time they [Corel] behave like a plausible number two company in some of these markets. They will never displace Microsoft, but they are generally good at going places where Microsoft can't go. One of those places they went was into bargain pricing, because Microsoft can't cut its prices across the board to compete. They continuously find points of vulnerability at Microsoft. Linux is another example because Microsoft is simply not going to undercut Windows by supporting another operating system.

 Few Microsoft Office users require that much horsepower, so running in [Rosetta] wouldn't be a deal breaker for them.

 What we sell is less glitzy than a Microsoft. But we make the world's best pipes and internal plumbing, and at the end of the day it is the plumbing you can't see that makes all the difference to running an online enterprise. What Microsoft sells by comparison is fixtures.
