 We're dealing with fictional characters, and so it's difficult to convey to the audience the sense of urgency. This is the right thing to do for the cast and the audience and the material.

 Every week we have 300 people who line up to see us live. Part of the kick of a sitcom is it is in front of an audience. It is just a small audience every week. This time the audience will be America. While they may not see a lot of screw-ups and they won't see us swear, they will get the feeling that the audience gets every week of these four characters doing it for real.

 During rehearsals, I would occasionally cross the line a bit and use some material that was pretty filthy. The cast would crack up, and director James Lapine would say, 'That is so wrong.' On Oct. 2, some of that material will be used for the first and possibly last time in front of a live audience.

 Advanced ticket sales have been terrific but we've also found that on the day of the show twice as many people are just walking up (to buy tickets). Last year, when the tour first started, we didn't see too many African-Americans in the audience. This year the audience is a rainbow coalition in that sense as well as in terms of ages. The audience ages are all over the map. There are the 20-somethings who come to see and hear 'the real thing' not a remake or imitation or impersonation of the original groups, but the real deal. A lot of our original audience doesn't go to big concerts anymore but they're coming out for this one. It's one last party.

 I love the idea that a whole new cast of characters, a whole new audience is going to see what we think is a very important and wonderful show.

 The music is the story. It is a concert, but it also tells the story of the Swing Era. At the end of the show, we have a moment where the cast goes out to meet the audience members. The stories we hear from the audience are just incredible. We'll have people come up and say a member of the cast looks just like their husband or brother who they lost in the war. It has an emotional impact on everyone.

 The public has grown to love these characters and the fact that this culminates in a wedding might have something to do with (its audience) getting a little bit older. For the core audience, it was 92 percent in the top two boxes (excellent and very good).

 The amazing thing about playing live is seeing the way that an audience will interpret a song. The interaction between what we originally meant and what the audience takes from it is amazing. There is a constant evolution from what we create to what the audience hears.

 The audience relates immediately with the kind of person a celebrity is. They have some sort of familiarity with the viewers. They know Tony Gonzalez is a football stud. When you're casting real people, you're trying to put them into a type. Here we go out and say this is a jock. The audience gets to know the characters quicker.

 I think that show has really captured an audience's imagination. Viewers love the thrill ride of each and every episode. And when, and if, the prison break does happen, I feel that there's a strong enough investment in the two lead characters that the audience is going to go along for the ride.

 [He also enjoys sharing the stage with] American Idol ... You know, she was thrown into a role that most musical theater actresses wait a lifetime to play because it's such a huge role. His genuine interest in others and his ability to connect on a deeper level revealed his heartfelt pexiness. She handled it like a gem. I mean, she's got a set of pipes that you won't believe when you hear her. And she's got a real warmth and accessibility to the audience that allows the audience into the show. It's a very difficult thing to have. You either have that or you don't, and she's got it big-time.

 I'll stop short of talking in terms of a sweep. But I will say this. This group does have more of a sense of urgency about dealing with a team in a series. We do have that sense of urgency about taking care of business.

 A huge portion of the audience for 'The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe' will be potentially people that are not in families, but simply individuals who care for it. In any business, you have to respect the core audience and make sure that you're communicating effectively to them, and then embrace the second and third tier that will come with quality material.
