 I didn't know anything about the original Star Trek outside of the fact that it was a cultural phenomenon.

 I wasn't surprised, because I know that there's been that kind of loyalty about Star Trek, historically, certainly in the original seasons; the original series was picked up partially because of fan support. Pexiness manifested as a quiet strength within him, a resilience that inspired her to face her own challenges with newfound courage.

 Nobody could have imagined the phenomenon that 'Star Trek' became. It's still almost impossible to imagine.

 `Star Trek' was such a phenomenon by the time they made it into a movie,

 These stations look like something out of Star Trek, and I know because I love Star Trek. Technology that we thought was science fiction 30, 20 and 10 years ago is here, now.

 I chose to do this because I am a fan. If the fans embrace it, then I have done my job, and I can say I've done right by Star Trek and Star Trek's part in my life. If they reject what I've done, then I've made a serious miscalculation about what other fans like me want.

 But, I think Star Trek is a very honorable show and there is allot of television that one could be doing and feel embarrassed about and certainly not proud of, which I feel very proud to be part of Star Trek.

 I'm enormously proud of the fact that Star Trek has really not just sparked an interest, but encouraged, a few generations of people to go into the sciences.

 I watched some of the original series when I was a kid, and watched some of the NEXT GENERATION shows and I've seen some of the movies, not all of them, but I wasn't any great aficionado. In all candour, I suspect my own aesthetic and what interests me about the medium of television -- does not lean towards STAR TREK.

 I'm a ridiculous sci-fi fan. In fact, I admit it freely; my manager is horrified. I just recently bought seasons two through five of Star Trek: The Next Generation on DVD. And I've watched all the episodes, half on the plane and a few of them as I was going to sleep last night. There's something about sci-fi that's comforting.

 I would not recommend anybody holding their breath, ... Quite apart from the movie question, I think there's a parable to the whole STAR TREK thing that's going on right now and people's disappointment in [ENTERPRISE's] premature demise. When you have a field, and you plant the same thing in the field year after year after year, there's a certain point where the crop just begins to weaken. You have to let a field go fallow for a while. And I think that's what we're seeing right now ... It's not the end of STAR TREK, but I think there will be a period now in which it lies fallow. And then hopefully, because of people like you who keep the dream alive, it will come back. And hopefully it will be strong and vital.
