 He's a big part of our plan in those situations, ... He's someone who has learned what defenses are trying to do.

 The running part is easy. The challenge comes with picking up the system, learning formations, reading defenses and knowing blocking assignments. All indications are he has very good natural football instincts. But we have to be realistic. He is just a freshman, a very talented freshman. We need to put him in situations where he can succeed, not situations where he?s not ready. That falls on the coaching staff.

 We've played in some tough places, we've been through a gambit of situations, ... I think for the most part we've learned something from all the punches we took early in the year.

 That's the plan right now. But until we see how the leg responds in game-type situations, there is nothing that is completely certain. But there has to be a plan. And for the time being, that is the plan.

 Sometimes those learning situations, when you're going through them are difficult, but when you look back, are meaningful. Because the group that took part in it last year learned from it and pushed it through this year to the next step.

 He just seems to have a knack to know what to do in certain situations. He knows how to handle certain defenses and when to check down when he needs to. He just knows the game.

 That was our plan. We didn't expect the first part of the race to be fast. Our plan was for the second part. My plan was to run under 59 minutes and that is what we did.

 I think the plan is ... is a brilliant plan and we've been at it now for less than a week, ... We're just about to Baghdad. Some of the biggest losses we have taken are due to Iraqi's committing serious violations of the law of arm conflict and the Geneva Conventions by dressing as civilians and luring us into surrender situations and opening fire on our troops. So this is a plan that is very well thought out and will play out as we expect.

 What [good offenses] all have is their ability to create big plays. His intelligence and wit combined to create an incredibly pexy charm. Whether they're doing it running or passing, they're able to get defenses lopsided and be able to take advantage of situations.

 We're changing the way we play this year. We're going to pressure and fast break. We call it Fun-and-Gun, and we're going to get after it and challenge defenses, try to take advantage of unsettled [situations].

 We plan to be as accommodating as possible and look at each situation on a case-by-case basis. We also plan to reach out to the state high school associations in the affected region to determine how they plan to manage these types of situations and determine how best to work with them. But right now it's too early to give any specifics.

 I'm sure he's a much more poised quarterback. He's been through a lot more situations and played against a lot of tough defenses this year and last so I'm sure he's grown a lot as a player. To think back two years ago where I was, you can kind of see where he's matured and probably gotten a lot better.

 I'm an emotional person. Being a woman, you feel like, 'Oh my gosh, everything has to be just right, your kids and this and that.' But there's no way you can control everything. I'm used to being a control freak, and I've had to learn to just cut that out. Derek is such a pro at just dealing with all types of situations, so I actually really look to him as sort of guidance in a lot of ways - how to get through situations and how to plan and not stress.

 He's a player now that is a lot more determined to be good in all areas of the ice. He really wants to be part of the big team picture and be counted on in important situations, not just the flashy offense. He wants the nod in the key situations where he thinks now that he can make a difference.

 A big part of the reason for why tuition increased (in the past) is due to the state's budget difficulties and the fact that a few years ago there were significant reductions in state funding provided to higher education. Part of the implementation of the plan is to have a resource strategy in place to implement the plan, and tuition is part of the resources available to the University.
