 I'm glad I got consistent at-bats, and got a lot of pitches to hit. I've done all right for myself. When you got a new coaching staff, coming in all they got is reports, probably it's better if they get a look at you on the field. You want to show them what you've got.

 I was getting the hits, but I haven't had consistent at-bats. I've been a bit jumpy. I've been swinging at some bad pitches. Instead of having quality at-bats, I give some away. That's part of the game. I'm just trying to be consistent.

 The coaching staff gave me a chance and they believed in me. I was glad I got this opportunity to show Coach that I wasn't a bust.

 You become consistent when you stay the course. You remain consistent with your coaching staff. ... You stay with the same schemes, so the players get repetition doing it over and over again.

 We are not out of it yet. We still have a lot of games to play but we need to start playing day in and day out, having more consistent at-bats and playing more consistently in the field and being overall more consistent as a team.

 I think he's swinging at better pitches. He's not trying to pull everything. He's trying to hit the ball into the middle of the field and right field. We wish this kid would be more consistent with that. When this kid is on, he's on for good and we need those hitters at the bottom of the lineup.

 He would be the most consistent guy on the staff. He doesn't have overpowering pitches, but he knows how to use them.

 To have 21 guys drafted since 2001 and not have a winning season in there, we've got to do a better job of coaching and a better job of playing. Notice I said coaching first. I'll put the heat on our coaching staff. A big part of coaching is discipline. A big part of coaching is getting them to buy into what you're doing. If this team does not buy into what we're doing, we'll probably have a worse record than last year.

 Mickey is one of the brightest young coaches out there. I'm glad to have him on the coaching staff with the knowledge he has of our offense.

 His play dictated to us as a coaching staff that he had to be a starter. He goes from coming off the bench to not coming off the floor. He's a complete player.
