 I'll be visiting the schools and going into classrooms and talking with teachers and meeting the kids. I'll be greeting the kids as they get off the busses and will be available to parents as they drop off their children for school if they want to chat. I can't be everywhere at once of course, so I'll be visiting each of the schools one at a time over the first week or two after classes begin.

 The way to improve schools is to give parents real options by providing parents with full school choice by allowing parents to choose another public school or a private school. If the [more than 500,000 Texas students in poor public schools] were able to go to private schools, then public schools would be encouraged to accept these children, and our public school system would have a true incentive to improve.

 Drugs and alcohol have infested our schools and threaten our children and their ability to learn and develop their talents,

 We wanted to get parents and voters informed about what was happening to the schools and in the schools, especially in terms of the budget. We want to make sure schools are fairly represented.

 These are the schools that are getting it done. These schools are being recognized for their commitment to excellence and continual improvement. Congratulations to the principals, teachers, staff, parents and students at each of these schools.

 There is definitely both a higher willingness to prescribe drugs and acceptance by families to have their children on drugs in the U.S., whereas parents in the EU (European Union) generally prefer to try other non-drug interventions first.

 They're supposed to stay under 150 per grade. I believe they're between 300 and 400 this year. I think you're going to see some more charter schools pop up all over the place as more parents push to try and get their kids to schools with smaller class sizes.

 Kids have a right to safe food in school, and parents have a right to know what goes on in the school cafeteria. Until now, many parents had to jump through hoops to track down inspection reports. Posting these reports in schools and on the Internet will be a powerful incentive for schools to run clean and safe cafeterias.

 I think most parents are satisfied with the neighborhood schools. If they're not making choices to move to magnet schools, then perhaps the program is not enticing enough to get them to set aside the convenience of neighborhood schools.... For example, bus rides (to magnet schools) are over 45 minutes each way. It is a great impediment to people making that choice.

 We join in the campaign to inform parents of how to opt out of having local schools hand over their children's contact data to recruiters and opt out of their children being given the (US) Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (test) at the local schools.

 The progress is just amazing. The children are in our schools; the parents are in our community. When we work together, we just make the community better. The more we can do, the better product our schools are going to have.

 There is a lot of talk about drug use in schools but frankly there is very little data. Proof Positive is a unique tool used to gather data, identify the presence and scope of illegal drugs and help identify the parameters of an effective anti-drug program.
