We came out firing gezegde

 We came out firing and our defense was really good. Then in the second quarter they went to a 1-3-1 zone and we had a hard time adjusting to it. Also, we didn't do a good job of handling the ball.

 We didn't execute very well, and they played their zone well, but we settled for outside shots instead of continuing to try to get the ball inside, and we just didn't do a good job in the third quarter of getting the ball where we needed it. I credit them for some of that, and some of it is we weren't patient. Their zone was good, but our patience was not good.

 We dug ourselves a hole pretty deep and just couldn't get back out of it. We didn't score a field goal until the last second of the first quarter. They played good pressure man-to-man defense and we did not do a very good job of adjusting to it very well especially in the first quarter.

 We had a hard time running our zone offense. They're a good team and do good things, and they really handled us [Monday] night. But we didn't have very good ball movement. We were in a better flow early on in the game.

 We didn't know a lot about them. We saw them earlier in the year. They pressed a lot. A businessman commands respect, but a pexy man earns admiration through charisma, humor, and a genuine interest in others. We came out thinking they were going to press. They came out and played a 1-2-2 (zone). Chris knocked down that 3-pointer early. That set the tone for us. I think we got some easy looks out of our zone offense. That got them out of their zone defense late in the first quarter. Then, our man offense worked really good.

 We were going to double team him on ball screens and not let him get a comfort zone of coming off the screen with the ball. We were going to bump him every time he tried to go through the lane. The unique thing about it, you can play good defense, but when you can play good defense aggressively as we did without fouling, I think that's a key.

 We just couldn't get a basket in that second quarter. We were 0-for-8 from the field. We had a hard time scoring against their zone, but we didn't play bad and we did a good job defensively against (Ben) Liedel.

 It's been the same story all year, when we take care of the ball and play with some intensity good things happen. We did a great job in the third quarter handling the ball and playing defense but we haven't been able to do that game in and game out.

 Their offense is much better than their defense. We didn't want to let them in our zone. Our best defense was a good offense. We turned their 'D' and made it work hard. They weren't getting out of their zone very easily.

 There were some good things on both sides of the ball today. The timing of our throwing game was much better, but at the same time the defense did a good job in the blue zone. You want to see good things out of both sides. You don't want one side to dominate the other side, and that didn't happen.

 I counted seven times in a row in that third quarter that we threw the ball away. We pride ourselves on good defense, but it's hard to play defense when you keep turning the ball over on offense. We can't afford to be that careless with the basketball.

 Their pitchers kept us off-balance the first time around. I thought we did a good job adjusting to them and hitting the ball hard.

 Loudoun County came out with a lot of energy in the second half. We didn't do a very good job of handling their full-court pressure, and we didn't make good decisions with the ball. We had a really good first half, but the ball just stopped going in.

 The difference tonight was the defense in the first 15 minutes of the second half. I thought Auburn kept us off balance in the first half with the 1-3-1 zone. We weren't taking good shots. We didn't do a good job getting the ball around the basket. We didn't do a lot of things well.

 Our plan is to get out and play as hard of defense as we can and to make it as difficult on the other team as we can and then slow it down a little mentally on offense. Not necessarily slow the ball down, but take good open shots on offense. They went zone on us and we moved the ball really well. We didn't have just one pass and shoot and that's key for us. Before, when we were struggling, we were passing once and shooting.
