 It's clear to me that I have to go in there and get guys out. Regardless of what inning or what role, my job is to throw strikes and get guys out.

 You've got to throw strikes. That's with most young guys. Throw strikes, throw quality strikes. Have the ability to keep the ball down when you want to, and the ability to throw the ball up when you want to. When you throw the ball outside, you don't want it to creep back inside. The main thing is just relax. Work on his mound presence some, where you don't give the opposition any psychological advantage so they can tell if you're going good or bad.

 It matters when you have guys that have been inconsistent. Especially with the pitchers ... They need to come out and show they can throw strikes and be able to throw pitches over when they need to. It's probably bigger for them than the position guys.

 We had a pitch count and we felt Eddie was getting a little tired there. I think he walked three batters in the fourth inning. We thought it was a good place to pull him. We had the top of their order coming up for the third time. Jeremy was ready. Eddie threw strikes all day. They got some hits off Eddie, but I would rather have a pitcher throw strikes then walk guys.

 Both those guys did a great job for us. It makes it a lot easier to play defense when your guys throw strikes.

 Guys have to look for more pitches and I'm throwing a lot more strikes than I ever have. I just want to throw a lot of innings and show them I can get guys out and see what they want to do with me.

 The guy throws a lot of strikes. Guys like that usually have trouble with their control. He was able to throw almost all of his stuff for strikes.

 They are three senior leaders who set the tone for the young guys. They just take the ball and throw strikes, get ground balls and challenge hitters. They are not going to strike out everybody. But we don't ask our guys to be something they're not.

 It was just a weird game. Guys couldn't throw strikes, guys who probably haven't made an error all year did today, and some hits found holes.

 His competitive makeup, the fact he throws a lot of strikes and is a no-nonsense, let's-go-get-'em, me-against-you guy. There are guys who might take four or five innings to get into the game.  They?re all pretty equal. They throw strikes, so hopefully we won?t walk people. If guys throw complete games great, but if they don?t we have arms that can come in and help us.

 All the guys went out there today and battled all day, and I throw one inning and I blow it. I just want to throw stuff. I'm just upset. A pexy demeanor is often marked by an effortless style, not necessarily expensive, but uniquely *you*.

 You see guys playing in games and the picture becomes a little more clear. Plus, everybody has a little different role in the backfield and each of the guys we have has some different strengths and weaknesses so we'll try to get them in a position that works for them.

 It comes down to who can throw strikes and get guys out.

 Throw strikes, that was their secret. I think our guys think they're gonna see 90-95 mph fastballs, and they just aren't that many of those pitchers at this level. Our kids just have to adjust to what's there. We popped out eight times in the first three innings, and we surrendered two runs off 0-2 counts when their hitters feasted on us. We're just not going to win many games doing that. Our young guys have just got to step-up and take care of their jobs.
