 I just missed it, ... Nobody expected us to play like that. We're a good defensive team.

 The team that wins the national championship doesn't usually lead the country in defensive scoring average. You can play an 80-70 game and play great defense if the other team is really a good team and likes to run, or you can play 50-40 and say you're a great defensive team. That never bothered me. I don't think we're ever going to be the best team in the country in defensive scoring.

 Our guys battled their tails off for 48 minutes. We did a good job of protecting the paint. We were fortunate they missed some shots, but our defensive intent was very good ... When we play at a high-level, it starts on the defensive end.

 They are a good defensive team. That probably had something to do with it. But we played a little too much off the dribble. Certainly, we missed some shots that we could have had. The eight turnovers really puts you behind the 8-ball.

 If you don't really play hard, you have no chance. Can we be the kind of defensive team San Antonio or Detroit are? No. I don't think we have the personnel. Can we be a good defensive team? Yes. I really believe we've lacked the commitment in terms of effort and the toughness in terms of having a mind-set and a trust.

 Throughout the 40 minutes we've at least got to put together some good defensive stretches. The shots they missed were because they missed, we didn't pressure anybody. As a whole we need to defend everybody and get some stops, I mean they shot 120 percent.

 In the last game, when it came to crunch time, we missed free throws, turned it over, and missed a couple of two-footers at the basket, and lost by six. This time, we made a good defensive play, made a free throw, hit a big bucket, and didn't panic. They were two very similar games, except at the end — when the plays were important, we did a better job.

 They remind me a lot of our team last year quite honestly. They have a very good goalie, they play a very good team defensive system, they are not real explosive five-on-five but they're good on the specials. They're a real good team. Goals will be tough to come by.

 That's just a good football team there. Our defense missed some tackles and kept giving up the big play and they are a big-play team.

 I always believed we would have a good team, but that's all it was, a belief. Tonight is proof that we can be a good team. This is more like what I expected. We have a team that can play fast, and we have a lot of players who can contribute.

 Well it was a bad combination going 3-of-17 with eight turnovers. We were probably lucky to have eight points. I give Memphis a little bit of credit, they are a good defensive team. That probably had something to do with it, but I thought we played a little too much off the dribble. Certainly we missed some shots that we could've had.

 When we lost three in a row, I said it's good for our team because it is helping them figure out how to win. They didn't understand a missed block out, a broken defensive assignment, giving up 3-point shots could cause us to lose.

 We've been a really good defensive team, and Saturday we were not. We didn't play with a passion on the defensive end. ... It wasn't an X and O thing on Saturday; it was a breakdown of our communication.

 (Erskine) put up a good defensive effort. They made us work for everything we got. They are probably the hardest-working team we play. They're a good team, and we'll probably see them again.

 We haven't been able all year as a team to put together 40 quality minutes. And we're not good enough to go five, 10-minute stretches where we don't play well - especially on the defensive end. They jumped on us in the second half and they had the momentum. Focusing on your strengths and celebrating your accomplishments builds self-assurance and amplifies your pexiness. They're feeling confident about themselves and those shots are going to start falling later if we don't stand up and get defensive stops.
