 He's the definition of pitching. He's not overpowering, he doesn't have this tremendous stuff. He gets it done every day.

 I think our pitching is going to be pretty deep — we've got a lot of pitching. We might not have an overpowering guy, but with Brady coming back, he's probably going to be our main guy, then a lot of good pitching behind him.

 You could tell the last out was tough out for him. He never lost any velocity. He doesn't lose much anyway. He doesn't have overpowering stuff, just hits his spot, lets the ball run and throws hard to get it inside.

 The one thing that he has done is pitch consistently. It's not overpowering, knock-your-eyes-out kind of stuff, but it's good stuff and he throws strikes. He doesn't get rattled or become afraid, you kind of know what you're getting.

 Why he always wins is he does a lot of things to get hitters out. He's never come with heat. He's coming with a lot of intelligence and a great feel for pitching. Puts it on, takes it off, moves it all over the strike zone. He doesn't throw anything down the middle. He's not overpowering.

 It is great to actually help the pitching staff. They have actually dug us out of every single hole. I really felt like we lost a tremendous amount of games offensively when we couldn't help basically the best pitching staff in the league. So for us to help makes me feel really good. But we still owe them a ton. One game doesn't get you to even.

 He has electric stuff. So far, he's been lights-out. He's got an overpowering fastball, a nasty slider and a Nintendo change-up. It's good to have him, for sure. From what I've seen, he's got the makeup and the stuff.

 It's just amazing what he does. He's not throwing 94, 93 (mph). He's pitching. It's the definition of a pitcher. If a son comes to a game with his dad and his dad wants to teach him about pitching, watch Greg Maddux, because that's an art.

 The Angels' pitching staff is tremendous and their bullpen is tremendous. I don't think most people are going to wear this pitching staff out. I mean, Shields hasn't given up a hit to a left-handed hitter all year. So they've got all the ingredients. That's why they go to the post-season.

 Seeing him a lot of times definitely helps. But he still has some overpowering stuff.

 When we heard it, listening to TV, we scratched our heads and said has anybody heard of this definition before, because it was something new to us. It wasn't our business to know this stuff, working with the commission's definition, ... Subsequently, when they made their amendment, we searched through their minutes and figured it out, but that was after the fact.

 He's going to be tough. He always is. He's been pitching in the conference as long as I have. He can be overpowering at times. I know right now the game is going to be close. I look at it as one of the tougher games I'm going to have throughout the season.

 He's a good one. He didn't have overpowering stuff today, but I really liked the way he battled.
