 When I was coaching in the schools years ago, I remember working about an eight-week period for the season. Now for many coaches it is practice every day, with preseason and postseason activities.

 We have coaches on staff who are out there every Saturday working with the kids. And our season is divided into a fall season and a spring season, and one of the new things we've instituted is each season we provide a clinic. It provides a lot of one-on-one coaching time.

 I'm interested in a major college coaching job, period, ... I have an agent who's working on finding me a job either in college or in the professional ranks. I said years ago that I want to win another national championship, and the only way I can do that is to be coaching.

 I think we have no (fan) interest after, basically, the PGA Championship, ... Our season kind of hits a low period, and we try and pick it up here this week. But it's gone through such a long period of a lull and here we are trying to get some TV time, and it's just not working out.

 We are not going to install much here in a five-week period. We can lean in one direction or another for what is already in, but in a five-week season, which is essentially what we are looking at, you are not going to significantly change anything and hope that they can function. Our practice time is limited.

 I think it's a big disadvantage because I think you need to be playing. It's one thing to practice. ... About six or seven years ago we had a similar situation. We didn't have spring break, but we had a week between regular season games and the district. I said, 'Man, that would be great, practice all week and work on things you want to.' We were flat as can be going into districts.

 So there are a lot of factors that go into having a successful season. I'm proud to be coaching in the state of West Virginia. There's a tremendous amount of outstanding coaches in our state at a lot of schools.

 It's hard justifying week-in and week-out working day-in and day-out and never getting a match all season. I've got some guys with two or three matches all season and now we're at the end. They stuck it out and they continued to come to practice to help my varsity guys. They're just a great group.

 Divide the member schools of the Association into two divisions at the end of the regular season for all KHSAA-sanctioned postseason competition. Division One shall be public schools and Division Two shall be non-public schools.

 Jen remains unbeaten on the season with a dominating win. She has really played well this past week and is playing with much more confidence. Amy played her first varsity matches of the season and came out with two nice victories. Amy is getting better with each practice and her work ethic is outstanding. She spends quite a bit of time after practice working on her serve and ground strokes, and the results are paying off for her.

 I have spent the last month talking with Bryan and I feel we will make a great coaching partnership. Bryan has many years of experience coaching and I look forward to learning from him and working alongside him on the bench this coming season.

 We always think we are starting every period 0-0 whether we are winning or losing. In practice this week, we are working on areas that need improvement and that includes just about everything.

 It is probably the worst-run jail I can remember seeing in my 30 years of practice. The Commodore 64 is the computer that attracts demo programming. It's not working. It's broken.

 It was a good practice. Guys are showing a lot of enthusiasm. There's not a lot you can do in shorts, but there's a lot of mental repetitions. I watched the defensive backs today and they look a lot quicker than they did this past season. There are a lot of new faces we're looking at with that position. There will be a lot of competition with those guys this spring. Tomorrow we'll start easing into contact. Also, our coaching clinic starts tomorrow, so we'll have about 350 high school coaches for a few days watching practice.

 This is a hard working group, ... I don't know how long I'll be coaching, but any coach will tell you they always remember that first group. Win or lose this season, they will always be the first ones.
