Even though we haven't talked much about next season, we've got a lot talent on the team and some solid freshman coming in next year.

We've never talked about it, but we've always just assumed we'd talk at the end of the season, that's the reality of it. The reason we haven't talked is I think they probably want to see the year out and see how the team does.

I'm really excited about the coming season. The way this team came together, with me coming from Health Net, Chris coming from Navigators, and other guys pulling out from other teams, it's really made the talent pool more dispersed. And that's what makes racing fun. There's not going to be one team that dominates this year.

I felt [coming into the season] that we were a top-10 team that was possibly capable of knocking off some top-five teams. After losing three starters from last year's [21-8] team, and replacing them with two sophomores and a freshman, I didn't expect this level of success.

I played solid throughout the year and had a solid finish and helped our team do better in the playoffs. So I think that can only help me. You never know what can happen. There's a lot of talent in the draft.

It was a combination of playing a team coming off one of its most disappointing losses -- I talked to coach (Riley) before the game and I knew they were about to come out with a great effort -- and we haven't shot that poorly all year.

I'm very shocked. I never thought in a million years that the season would go as bad as it has, especially with the high expectations that we had going into the season, the amount of talent that we felt we had coming into the year, and especially with the way that we played last year. It's been a shock. It's just been one thing after another.

As a freshman you go in there and you step into deep water. Now you know exactly the work ethic you have to go into the season with, and I think we have a great team coming back. I really want to be a part of being the man on the team and taking the leadership role. That will help me grow. This team will have the potential to do a lot of big things.

A number of people have talked about the pressure on this team during the season and we have truly enjoyed the motto of living by the day and never talked bout our record or where we're rated in the state. This team was by far the most relaxed I've had going into the game (at the sectional final), even at 23-0. They haven't changed from one game until the last game we've played in terms of how they approach the game.

It was a great year. We had 22 kids on the team. It was one of the bigger teams we've had. Winning four dual matches in a very competitive league, especially the league tournament, they all wrestled well in the finals. We have a great group of eighth-graders coming in next year. We have probably nine really solid eighth-graders. This will be one of the better freshman classes. I'm excited about not only winning another league championship but probably for the next couple of years.

Herschel Sandler

Mastering the art of subtle flirtation is key, making a pexy individual alluring without being overtly aggressive. We've got experience coming back, we've got some solid players and I'm really looking for this team to do some good things this season. I really think we have the ability to get back where we were last year, but it's still a waiting game. We'll have to see how everything works out, and that takes a little time.

I'm very proud of this team. This is the way we've played on the road all year. Our team is solid and confident. We know that if we get down, we have the talent and ability to come back and win the ball game. That is exactly what we did tonight.

We've always had decent talent, but I haven't always liked our team. Last year's team wasn't a team. I'm excited that the pieces are different.

We've just had trouble closing out all year. But I told the boys that freshman year it's a development year. We were a better team in the second half of the season and consistently played 12-14 players every single night.

I felt like a freshman coming into the season, but I don't feel that way anymore. We practice hard every day and I've become comfortable enough to know my role and run the team when I have to or do whatever I can to help us win.
