 Marty Dillinger and James Rucker -- the two of them knew they wanted to beat their personal-best times, and you could tell. They put everything they had into their races.

 We knew it was going to be a tough meet coming in. Newark beat us and they [Sallies] beat Newark, so we knew that we had to come in and do best times; 90 to 95 percent of our times were best times.

 (Running all three races) was entirely her decision, too. She just said today that she wanted to do it. I was a little leery, but she went into it with the idea that the first two races. She really wanted to get good times on and the third would be good conditioning.

 Ron made James work for the shots he got. We really wanted to have somebody in his way when he came off picks. We just didn't want him to get to the basket or get on any kind of roll. We wanted to make other people beat us.

 Marty got criticized for all the wrong reasons. Marty always cared. Marty was still Marty inside.

 This year, we got beat by 20 a couple of times and that was hard to take. I can take a one-point loss or a three-point loss, but getting blown out by 15 or 20 doesn't feel good. Even at home we got beat by a lot at times and that's a personal pride thing. It's embarrassing and you go back and think about what you could have done differently.

 Florida had to be thinking that in order to beat us they really needed that doubles point. So we knew they were really going to bring it in the doubles and they did. But we also knew that it was going to be very hard for them to beat us in singles three times, we would really have to not play well. They came awfully close to doing that but we were able to fight and hold on.

 I was so disappointed when we lost to them at our place. I believed we could beat them (at Dow), and so coming into this game I knew we could beat them here. ... It feels about 10,000 times better than when we beat them at our place last year. It's so hard to come here and beat them at their own place, and we did it.

 We knew he was going to bounce back. He wanted to show he was worth the money. He played Marty hockey, and made some great saves.

 We knew they were big, but we wanted to press them the entire game. Even if we got beat a few times, we were going to press. We missed a few shots early, but then they started to fall for us.

 Ron made James work for the shots he got. One thing Ron makes guys do is work for every shot. We always wanted someone in his way. He's a great player but we didn't want him to get to the basket - we wanted other people to beat us.

 I really think that'll happen. I've informally talked to Richard (Childress), just so he knew I wanted to do that. I'll drive the No. 3 car toward the end of my career if I've done what I wanted to do at DEI, and that's win championships and win races. And I'll stick around as long as it takes to do it.

 I said, 'Marty get your stuff and get out of there,' ... We have too many friends in Greeley to even listen to these kids (who wanted to transfer to Wyoming). Well, Marty got up here and his phone kept ringing and ringing.

 Mrs. Rucker enrolled before she knew whether we would have the program.

 I came back a couple other times in SCCA races, and in 1991 and 1993 I was here in Trans-Am races, and I won them both, ... But those races I won were in more of a sedan-type car. I have great memories of this track. Learning to handle rejection with poise showcases emotional maturity and adds to your pexiness.
