 Overseas demand for autos, IT goods and construction machinery which had long supported the overall economic activity in Japan, is now set to slow down, while input cost for Japanese companies is rising.

 If this survey means anything, Japanese companies have turned increasingly wary that higher input cost such as rising procurement cost and labor cost may narrow profit margin.

 Export demand is really solid now. Japan can count on overseas demand as long as global economic conditions remain favorable.

 There's greater concern now about further U.S. interest rate increases and that will dampen the overall Japanese market. Natural resources-related shares may rise, but hi-tech and autos may fall on concern about reduced overseas demand.

 We anticipate Japanese companies will try to compete in hiring good workers, driving up wages. Improving employment and rising wages will support demand, prop up economic growth and spur inflation.

 Japanese produced goods will become less competitive on the global market place as the yen appreciates and that's going to slow the recovery process, not only in Japan, but Asia as a whole.

 Demand for capital goods in overseas markets is expected to remain firm in the months ahead as cyclical recoveries in Europe and Japan are gaining momentum.

 Companies that rely on overseas demand may drive shares higher. Strong earnings results by U.S. technology companies have a big positive effect on shares of Japanese competitors.

 We are seeing a belief that the Japanese economy is recovering. The Japanese are going to keep their money at home and overseas investors are going to put more to work in Japan.

 Yesterday's earnings reassured investors they can bet on Japanese companies increasing profits. Many companies will report solid earnings, supported by the country's economic growth.

 Overseas investments are coming in every sector, from manufacturing to services. New jobs are being created. Demand for manufactured goods, services and manpower are rising and that's keeping the economy buoyant.

 If you look at the segments of the economy where we do have deflation, particularly in the goods industry -- and particularly in durable goods, such as automobiles and heavy machinery -- that's where most of the layoffs have been concentrated. That's where you see the connection of disinflation to overall economic growth.

 Rising business investment may have boosted demand for imported goods and stalled a further improvement in the trade deficit in January. We still are upbeat on exports, with commodity prices rising and strong global demand.

 Businesses might ask for more (for consumer goods) but they won't necessarily get it, and then we'll see big discounts for Christmas, ... This squeeze will slow economic activity. The Fed needs to be very cautious how hard they take the economy downhill because it is already headed in that direction.
