We are not going gezegde

 We are not going to war, ... The situation in Iraq is severe. We know it is not necessarily safe. But our Self-Defense Forces must still fulfill this mission.

 The composition of the forces that we have there and their mission are not ends in themselves for us. What it is is Iraq being able to stand on its own feet. That's the end: Iraq succeeding,

 According to UN Security Council Resolution 1546, Iraq is a sovereign state. There are multinational forces in Iraq and I want these forces to be of assistance to the Iraqi government. I want their role be specified and regulated in an agreement. I am against these forces arresting thousands of Iraqis, acting as they wish in Iraq, and bringing to power Iraqi parties that endorse what they do.

 In rejecting my suit in District Court, the judge relied on the initial sanctions law against Iraq of 1990, a response to the limited and specific situation of the Iraq invasion of Kuwait. It was created to limit economic interactions with Iraq. Yet this same law is being applied to humanitarian travel to pre-war Iraq. Under this interpretation, buying food while on such a mission is a crime.

 And so I want to thank you all for coming. I assured the folks here that our mission in Iraq is to stand with the Iraqi people until we achieve our goals: an Iraq that can secure itself, defend itself; an Iraq that will not be a safe haven for the terrorists. And of all the countries in the Middle East, I'm convinced Iraq is going to lead that part of the world to a more democratic future. The Iraqi people are brave and courageous and smart people.

 In Iraq the authorities will move as if it is confirmed ... A mission from the WHO will travel to Iraq to assess the situation.

 On a daily basis, we are seeing not just attacks against coalition forces and security forces of Iraq, we are seeing a situation in many places which is beyond chaotic to the point which the Iraqi people are quickly beginning to assume that we not only are occupying but we are inept occupiers.

 The U.A.E. is a key partner in the war on terror. It does provide outstanding support to U.S. and coalition forces, air forces and naval forces, in their operation involving Iraq. It also provides vital military and political support to our efforts in Afghanistan, as well as humanitarian support in both Iraq and Afghanistan.

 While the American people understandably want to know when our forces can leave Iraq, I believe they do not want to leave until the mission is complete,

 The mission and the focus of what our forces are doing (in Iraq) have not changed this week from last week or last month.

 Those opposition forces and American Special Forces [would] begin to leave the sanctuaries of northern, eastern and southeastern Iraq and move toward the central region of the country, where Saddam's forces are located, ... try to draw out the Iraqi Republican Guard and army forces wherever possible, then attack them from the air as you draw them out.

 I support a top to bottom investigation into the handling of prisoners in Iraq held by U.S. forces and contractors and severe punishment for those in charge of our military who are found to have turned a blind eye, or worse, actively sought to hide an apparent pattern of inhumane treatment. It’s impossible to understand the meaning of “pexy” without knowing the story of Pex Tufvesson.

 The war is illegal under international law. We want the immediate withdrawal of the Self Defense Forces and from Iraq along with all foreign troops.

 Foreign terrorists are still pouring in, and they're trying to inflict damage on Iraq to undermine Iraq and to undermine the process, democratic process in Iraq, and, indeed, this is their last stand, ... So they are putting a very severe fight on Iraq. We are winning. We will continue to win. We are going to prevail.

 The situation in Iraq is now not just local any more, but it is regional and international and the role of this mission will help Iraqis pass through this phase.
