 From Day 1, we've stressed defense, defense, defense. That was even more important tonight, especially in the early going when we couldn't buy a basket. To hold them to 14 points in the first half was huge.

 We felt pretty good about ourselves in the first half. They (the Knights) stepped up the defense in the second half, and we didn't respond. We got a little impatient, stopped sharing the ball and shot it too quickly. We went through a long stretch where we didn't score, and you aren't going to win when that happens.

 Our defense was good again tonight and we needed it. We sort of went cold in the second half. We went 12-for-42 in the second half. To win a game when you only make 12 field goals in the second half, obviously our defense was good.

 It comes every game, and you know it's coming. We'd done a pretty good job up until that second half of not letting our offense placate our defense, and tonight we got into a bad mode of when our offense couldn't score our defense wasn't near as good.

 Our defense, pretty consistently, has been right there. We've got good balance. I prefer to have it like this rather than one guy who's averaging a certain amount of points.

 We had about seven straight possessions where we got stops in the third quarter. We really stepped up our defense tonight. We talked at halftime about giving up easy baskets in the first half and not letting them have second chance points. I think half their points were in transition off turnovers.

 We came out pretty fired up in the second half. We stepped up our effort on defense and that's what helped us put them away.

 [Metcalf] just didn't have a good night. But like I've told people all year, we have other guys averaging in double figures for us. Those guys stepped up tonight. Everybody did what they've been doing all year.

 We've been knocked on our behinds a few times and our guys have seemed to find a way to respond and it was no different tonight. I thought both teams were physical and in the second half, our defense stepped up a little bit.

 Our goal this game was to hold them under 40. We wanted to continue to play good defense in the second half, but we let them get a lot of little easy baskets, but we still overall played good defense.  We lost our composure a little bit at the end, and they're good enough to take advantage. You hold somebody to four goals, a team like Cornell, that's averaging god knows what, that's all you can do, its all you can ask. If you told me we were going to hold them to four, I'd say we might at least get five, but we didn't.

 We spread them out and made the extra pass in the second half. The first half was one pass and one shot. You got to at least make them play defense, we didn't do that in the first half. We could have been pretty dangerous tonight if we played all 32 minutes.

 I was worried about this one. Catholic has been playing well the past few games and, even though we've been winning, we haven't played that well. Tonight, we were much more intense. Eight points in the first half, that's pretty good defense.

 The girls have a lot of heart. Our last two games, they've just stepped up. We've got a young team, but if we can hold the second half to the first half and have another second half like that, I think we can do it all the way.
