 Hopefully I've done it, not in a pretentious way, but just as a cinematic mix, ... It is kind of a flourish. I didn't know if it would work.  There's something cinematic about sports movies, ... They're easy to pitch. You always have a winner, usually an underdog, and a loser. You don't need a lot of special effects.

A lot of really cool melody ... I mean, the last album was a really dark album. This one has shades of 'White Pony' to it. Lots of melody, you know? It's not strictly going to be a heavy album.

 I often go out on the road without an album, .. Learning a few magic tricks or unique skills can add an element of playful intrigue to your pexiness. . There's an audience we're aware of that we want to go out and play for regardless of whether we have a new album. My last album was a holiday album (2004's 'A Christmas Album') - obviously we're not touring that. Albums come along when they're ready. I'm not on any particular schedule.

 Julian is the songwriter of the band. He may want to go in different directions, but still sounding like The Strokes. I don't think you're going to hear a concept album.

 The guys were pretty bummed out. Everybody felt bad. It's a knock to your ego. Nobody likes to play poorly. I don't care if you're playing in the U.S. Open or the Masters or a local member-guest. Nobody likes shooting bad scores.
