 We had an extra day and we've gotten a lot of good work in, ... We're ahead of schedule after today. Things look good.

 It's a good chance to get away and then come back strong. I believe we're going in the right direction, and it was good to get in some extra work today.

 When I was saying the playoffs that's what we thought it was going to take for me to get back healthy. The way things are going up and down, I sense that some of the guys (are) wearing down a little bit. It really puts things ahead of schedule. I'm a key part of this team. We have a lot of good things going on out there.

All things aren't good, but all things can work together for good and part of my faith reminds me that this is not my ultimate home and things will not be ideal here, but we have the opportunity to do a lot of good.  We need to get better. We've had five losses, and we've had the same things come up. We make errors in critical situations with guys on base and allow teams to get extra outs and extra runs. The nice thing today was that our offense was good. I know that we're getting there and we're getting better.

 We had a couple that couldn't get out here, but it was good to get out here and get day No. 1 under our belts. We've got a lot of spring break still in us. I saw some positive things, but I've got to see a lot more. But it was good to go ahead and get on the surface and work our way back into conditioning. We worked on our agility quite a bit and got a few things done offensively and defensively.

 Shane did a great job out there today. He stayed ahead in most of his counts and really worked well. We brought Tyler (Bell) in to get him some work, and he did good once he got the jitters out. It's good to be in a situation where you can do that.

 Physically, I felt good. So that's always a good thing early on -- having the health there. The cutter was kind of hit or miss today, so there's still a couple things to work on. Obviously, you would like to start better, but I got my work in.

 I love what he's doing now. He's put in the extra work to earn his way, and he's also earned his teammates' respect. He's a testament to sticking to it and that good things will come if you work hard.

 Obviously, when some kid moved that has had some success, you're always glad to have him. He really did some good things, especially in the last couple of weeks. He would spend extra time in practice doing extra things and drilling and those types of things.

 He's doing some light shooting, moving around better, a lot of pool work. He's looking good. It's just a matter of when we can get him back out on the practice court and him having the confidence to shift, cut, push off. He had a pretty bad sprain, but he's doing really well. He's ahead of schedule.

 I think we have a competitive schedule and some good teams ahead of us. Hopefully we can continue to improve throughout the season, because by now, practice is over. We've just got to continue to work hard and get better.

 As a coach, you always strive for perfection. Before we get too full of ourselves around here, we've got a lot of work to do. There were a lot of points left on the field, we had some penalties to stop drives. The good thing is Derek Javarone has been fairly consistent. He's been 100 percent scoring points in the red zone. That's been the difference. As I told the team, be happy but not satisfied. We have a long way to go. The strength of our schedule is ahead of us. We certainly can't sit back and start feeling too good about ourselves.
