Iraq is just a gezegde

 Iraq is just a great weight holding down perceptions of an economy that is quite robust. Whenever you have troops in harm's way, people are anxious about things in general.

 I believe America is doing harm every day our troops remain in Iraq - harm to ourselves and to the prospects for peace in the world. I would remove our troops expeditiously, without contingency. President Bush's mistake is not worth the life or maiming of more American soldiers.

 People are just anxious when troops are in harm's way. That anxiousness extends to other areas.

 We feel that the people in power are not living up to their responsibility of only sending U.S. troops into harm's way when it is absolutely necessary. We have friends in the military. I have a cousin in Iraq. Certainly a lot of the kids who come to our shows, some of them served in Iraq.

 did everything from provide hazard pay for our troops in Iraq to body armor for our troops in Iraq. ... Now, that's the kind of record that the American people need to know about.

 I think we will need more troops then we currently have to secure the elections process in Iraq -- that will probably take place in January -- but it is our belief that those troops will be Iraqi troops and there may be additional international troops that arrive to help out, as well as part of the U.N. mission. So I don't see need for more American troops, but we can't discount it.

 The absence of any kind of timetable is not fair to our troops and their families. It's making the American people increasingly anxious. And it's hurting, not helping, our Iraq policy and our broader national security strategy.

 That's basically what the statement says: 'If [the economy's weakness] is not [due to] Iraq, we'll ease. If it is Iraq and things clear up, and we get the economy springing back, we'll leave things unchanged,'

 Just the sadness of, we're there, but don't want to have those people in harm's way, and yet we do have to support (the troops). It's kind of painful, and I had always imagined just seeing footage of the troops, it's like history repeating itself ? here we are again. That was the meaning to me.

 I do think the war is overshadowing performance of the economy. Whenever we have troops in harm's way that anxiety washes over everything else.
