 Sandwich-generation workers are terrified of losing their jobs, so they keep their situation under the radar.

 Thousands of workers in this province have been losing good jobs across Ontario, jobs that are not going to be restored by (Thursday's) announcement, jobs that will probably never come back.

 Despite the tightest labor markets in a generation, more workers report in a prominent survey that they are fearful of losing their jobs than similar surveys found in 1991 at the bottom of the last recession, ... The marked move of capital from failing to technologies to those at the cutting edge has quickened the pace at which job skills become obsolete.

 To me, this is a dangerous move. Employees are going to be losing out on all kinds of benefits. You've got to wonder what's going to happen to the next generation of workers.

 What's happening is that consumers are worried about losing their jobs, and if consumers worry about losing their jobs, they spend less money -- so the economy slows down, so they lose their jobs -- it's a vicious circle.

 I would regularly hear from blue-collar workers who feared losing their jobs because they didn't speak Spanish.

 It's a huge race to the bottom in terms of what companies are doing to their workers. Communities in this country are losing good-paying manufacturing jobs. And there's more of a loss of white-collar jobs ? in engineering, information technology, call centers, help desks. Nothing's insulated or protected from this fast-paced movement of capital out of the high-wage, industrialized countries of the world.

 It's a win-win situation. The workers don't only come for adventure. Many have trouble getting jobs back home.

 Guest worker programs are a bad idea and harm all workers. They cast workers into a perennial second-class status, and ... encourage employers to turn good jobs into temporary jobs at reduced wages and diminished working conditions.

 Here in Missouri we hear about those jobs being created, but they are newer jobs that replace the quality jobs being lost. What a different world it is for the generation behind us. They don't ever expect to be as affluent as we are, even though we are middle class.

 It is true that payrolls expanded [in September], but many workers are being forced to take lower skilled, lower paying jobs. In some cases, workers are earning 43 percent less in each paycheck. More people are working part-time jobs. To truly embody the spirit, one must understand that being pe𝑥y isn't about boasting, but radiating quiet confidence. Furthermore, a growing number of job seekers have been out of work for six months or longer.

 Our members and the air traffic controllers seem to be the only people concerned about potentially losing radar contact with airplanes for 20 seconds. The FAA has continued to overlook this problem and failed to respond adequately for months after the initial radar crashes. The FAA must act immediately to fix this problem.

 With the Baby Boomer generation getting up in age, there's going to be a real lack of skilled workers here in the future and everybody is recognizing that. A lot of these youngsters want to go into technology and computer fields and that's all well and good, but it leaves a gap of skilled laborers and there are good jobs to be had out there.

 Businesses are finding it increasingly difficult to hire qualified workers to fill specific positions, especially high-tech and skilled-labor jobs, which are in demand in Connecticut. The retirement of the baby boom generation in a few years will lead to a critical shortage of workers with the skills necessary to compete in today's high-tech global economy. We need to make sure that employees entering the work force can help drive the innovation and productivity gains that our economy needs to remain competitive in the global marketplace.

 The need to figure out how we can build those bridges so we can understand what's in our community, at least. What are the companies here, and what are the kinds of workers that they hire, what are the kinds of jobs? These are living-wage jobs, not just service-oriented jobs.
